so it safe to say that all of those pre-orders are all current iphone users.

It would be the same as an n97 user planning to upgrade to the n8. Or a g1 user upgrading to the nexus1. Name me any phone that has received 600,000 preorders in a day. You cannot say, "combine all the android phone sales and compare that with the iphone". That's just dumb.

If those restrictions would cripple you, then the iphone is obviously not for you. It's as simple as that. Those restrictions are business decisions by Apple. And they have good reasons for their business on why they put those restrictions on. You cannot say that the Porsche Boxster is a dumb car because Porsche restricted it to seat only two people and has limited trunk space. So you complain that it cannot accomodate your 4 kids and your wife like minivans can. But how about drivers who don't have kids and want a fast super car? Are you going to force us to get a minivan as well when we don't need one? Same logic here.

600000 iPhones being preordered on its first day reservation, omfg, any other phone company can compare with Apple's? None!! Apple's iPhone 4 will definitely rule the world again this year, Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, LG, they can all go home and cry in their little workplace, :D Plus it just got confirmed that iPhone 4 has 512 MB of RAM, which is why iMovie is only released on iPhone 4 but not on iPad, hahaha, iPhone 4, here i come, everyone else stay out of the way, i need to get it on 06-24.

would it not be reasonable to say the iphone 4 just got released therefore has more interests? The N8 still has more hits than the iphone. Why is no one bringing that up?
I dont expect the N8 to outsell the iphone4 because those who love symbian have other choices to choose from.
apple's latest release is the iphone4 so it makes obvious sense that all apple and iphone lovers will flood to it

Some, because they can't afford what they want, settle for something else. There's no other phone out there like the iphone. Maybe on spec sheet, but not on user experience. So you cannot say that there is another device out there equivalent to it that's cheaper. Iphone's implementation of features are different from the rest. It's OS is exclusive for the iphone. It is not a generic OS like symbian, winmo and android. And that what makes it special.

If the N8 was going to sell loads or outsell the iphone why is it there,s hardly anyone on here interested in it, There's about 4 or 5 people who like the N8 and think it's the best thing in the world but it's simply Nokias attempt to copy the iphone and it's failing miserably.
N8 is boring just like Nokia

Just goes to show not many people are feeling the N8 because it's a boring handset and it can't touch the iphone 3g nevermind the 3gs or the Iphone 4.
All these hopes for the N8 to beat the Iphone are just wishful thinking for the haters and chavs who dislike the iphone because of it's price.
I'm laughing at all you haters because you can't afford it hahaha :-)

Yes the extra 120 screen xps aside its still not hitting new heights just merely trying to keep the iphone in the race,albiet charging a absolute sin for it.

A brief new report from DigiTimes estimates Apple's current iPad shipments at 1.2 million per month, up from 700,000 at launch and set to increase to as much as 2.5 million per month by the end of the year. If true, the data confirms very strong sales performance for Apple's tablet device that could see the company exceeding even the most robust analyst estimates.
As iPad production continues to ramp up, Apple has apparently tapped Samsung for additional display production for the device. Samsung, which will join existing supplier LG, is set to begin volume production next month with output scheduled to reach 300,000-500,000 per month. That number compares to LG, which reportedly produced about 800,000-900,000 displays during the month of May.
