Hi,
Follow the below steps..
settings..
-> General
-> Software Update
There you will see the update notification..
By using this method you can update the OS or else using iTune also you can update the OS.

I wonder how people get bad battery life out of 5s, mine is doing great still, i charge it at night and unplug before i sleep, after almost 12 hours of standby the battery dropped only 2%, 3G signal and Wifi on. I am almost a medium user but even though, the day before it dropped only 40% in 24 hours.

A weak signal can cause the network to reduce the audio bitrate, at least they do here where i live, HD Audio is supported but we don't get to use it due to mediocre 2G signal and very low 3G/HSPA signal, the 4G signal is good but it doesnt help since VoLTE isnt yet fully implemented.
Anyway, bad call quality on 5s? No way, its very good even on 2G, just because a newer phone has better it doesnt mean 5s is bad. I tend to blame this on your network provider and local conditions.
