You cannot see 300 or 200 or even 100 if you are far en... moreThere was tests done after Apple released the retina display using the same viewing distance Apple used to claim retina display is the maximum the Human eye can see when it was shown that it's closer to 380ppi and that is a fact that cannot be disputed, and as far as I know after that Apple stopped trying to make those claims about retina display because they know it's a lie.

all of those test photos looks better on iPhone 5S, little bit strange, but it just shows how much apple did for camera (under the hood, software wise), even the camera specs on paper doesnt look that good, i think that's why you said shitty camera without even seeing any real photos taken with phone.
dont let the numbers on paper to fool you, believe your eyes.

And according to MacRumors, one analyst has suggested that Apple could be looking to implement a 4.8 inch Retina+ IGZO screen made by Sharp, which will make the iPhone 6 display thinner, brighter and much clearer - boasting better than HD resolutions.

You can definitely see 400 or even 500 if you are close enough.
The idea of retina display is such that when you hold it at sufficient length from the eye, you cannot notice the pixels.
