I can't afford the SE and this will be my first iPhone can please suggest if it will a good choice in 2017? Heard battery life isn't all that? How bad is it?

Never let you battery percentage drop to 0 try to keep 40-80.You can do fully charge once in 2 month to calibrate your battery circle.My sister has j7 dropped once and she ended up to fix display not the touching screen.

Review after 4 days
Launch date of phone is 2013 sep this is not doing any matter beacuse phone is fullfil with the features which have todays phone (if you comparing it with other brands not apple) i was using samsung galxy j7 prime and was satify with that phone (not camera). Everything was okay then i deicded to buy iPhone 6 because of credit card issue I couldn't buy that (i got good amount for j7 prime) everyone was telling me don't buy 5s it's out of date. I got phone in 18k and after that I compromised myself in little screen and after one day I became littler bit familiar with IOS an then on second day I changed battery twice in a day after that I charged phone only once a day and now it's battery last whole day (full day using wifi)
The battery draining is solved by
1.keep only certain apps notifications on in settings notifications (like what's app wattpad the alps which you want) turn off all that notifications
2.by removing all the widgtes (you can keep the widget which you want) I don't think the widgets do matter cz we can see time and date at top
3.4G networks which needs more power for operating itself so if you are using wifi only then you can set in setting network 2G i think it also helps.
4.dont charge phone 3 4 times ina day charge only once in a day full 98 99 100% chagre once and use it till battery at 1%. (Don't charge battery in between day use it till dies
It helps battery's lifecycle and makes battery powerful which last day
4.when battery % reaches below 50% turn on low power mode
