Anonymous, 20 Sep 2016i think you'll find your wrong, a10 scored 5708 multi core ... moreNot really...
Varying articles to confirm that the 'four core' Apple A10 is dual core for non Apple software, and that two 'low powered' cores are hidden (Chipworx not seeing their physical location), and are to be used for the iOS system.
Meaning that multicore benchmarks, especially the 8890 vs the A10, is effectively eight cores vs two.
And Apple hold their own!
This is as REAL WORLD as it gets....
The A10 can sip the power when running the base OS (and the huge suite of first party Apple software, if not now, then eventually), and have 'all that benchmark grunt' available to software... the EXYNOS 8890 would have to utilise SOME of its' grunt to run an Android OS.
Designing an OS from the ground up to do VERY SPECIFIC things, whilst incrementally adding to that list of capabilities (copy and paste/multitasking/motion coprocessing etc) at the software level...
AT THE SAME TIME AS DEVELOPING CUSTOM HARDWARE
... to run all the growning features as power efficiently as possible....
-No other company can touch this.
I am a happy Note 7 user. Love the capabilities of my toy/phone.
I am at least honest enough to acknowledge that iOS is miles ahead of Android at a real world and 'functional' level.
Having seen iOS 10 add lots of awesome stuff (and most importantly; set a cutoff point for older phones and tablets (eg iPad2) with 512MB of RAM) that will allow massive improvements to the system going forward... iOS is the system to 'beat'.
Sure we can argue semantics, design ideals, and whether our choice of Operating System give us enough sound schemes and icon catalogs..
The reality is to make a small computer capable whilst sipping power is the true achievement (if you are not building swiss army knives).
Always has been in the laptop world (big laptops with no battery life typically being cheaper to make that svelte units with long runtimes)...
Sure the above article lists issues with iOS, which if we were just using the base OS applications would be an issue..
As an example: as soon as I put VLC player on my iPAD, I could play all the movie file formats I wanted, and I didn't have to 'muck around' in iTUNES, I could drag and drop to the VLC folder....
Even on my Note 7, to get some lossless files playing back, I had to install third party software, so arguing the platforms based on 'included apps' is silly- very few users NEVER INSTALL SOFTWARE.
iOS (hardware and software) IS the platform to beat.
Well done Apple. This was the 'sleeper' until next years phones,.. then bring them on!
Whilst I have my business contacts set up for the android ecosystem, it is only the low SAR value on samsung phablets that gets my money.
If HTC or Motorola made some more 'super low SAR' phones; I would seriously consider them.
Glad waterproofing 'is a thing' now. Future phones will hopefully continue to offer this feature.
I am an S-pen user, so I have a Note.
Non S-pen users get better value out of the S7 lineup.
People who enjoy life; let them continue enjoying their iPhones. They truly have some of the best hardware, with software that is ever evolving. iOS 10 is very cool.. and every Apple user (with like products built in the last four years), knows they will get latest platform updates, day one!
Just look at the rollout speed of iOS10 into the Apple hardware market. Android takes many many many months to get to similar levels of adoption.
See any reasons why developers go iOS as their lead platform/platform of choice?
Apple have given a 'low level API' (METAL) for yonks. Android with Nougat should give VULKAN, but this just isn't comparing APPLEs with apples.
