Ah, because you see, it is the brand. So when people see expensive iPhone X, they buy the iPhone 8 because it's "the next best thing" to the new shit.

iPhone SE / iPhone 6S / iPhone 7/ iPhone 8 /iPhone X.
A total of 8 phones. 3 new (at higher price point). Only 1 uses oLED (priced at macbook base config).
iPad mini / iPad / iPad Pro
A total of 4 tablets. 2 new (at higher price point). 2 not updated in years.
Mac mini no updates / Mac Pro no updates despite Tim Cook say "WE Care For these products!" TWICE updated Macbook Pros.. omg..
But in fact, its a set of cost savings (Keep bulk producing legacy parts), maximise profit by jack-up price as customer compare older with new (For example, iPad Pro 10.5 SHOULD be iPad price - if they keep to the yearly update cycle).
Apple is big, tons of smart peoples. But their hardware updates are slower then snails... and they still branch out so many product like Samsung.

Why is this thing needed? What is apple thinking? They release the X and this?? If you release the other you don't need the other. This space has already been taken by the X now. Why make the same old model to compete against their own phone???

Still the same screen-to-body ratio with iPhone 7 Plus! Why Apple can't reduce the bezels of this iPhone without sacrificing the home button? Maybe because of the circular home button? They must do something about this. The phone's design has been used since 2014. I only see small changes since iPhone 6 plus. I can accept this slow design changes, but I really want those bezels to shrink! Meanwhile, android midrange smartphones have bigger screen-to-body ratio but not necessarily a "bezel-less" design. The only thing I like right now about iPhones is its RAM management, OS optimization, camera, and performance.

iphone 7 Plus: 2900 mAh
then again iphone 8 specs are more power hungry because of upgraded cpu. therefore why in the world they've lessen the battery output?

The 7 has waterproofing and dual camera with optical zoom, it is a moderate upgrade in terms of speed (compared to 6s)
the 8 has 4K@60fps, it is a small upgrade in terms of speed (if you don't do video editing which uses all cores, because multi core performance improved heavily, but it isn't as important as single core) (compared to 7)
wireless charging is a gimmick
If you use your phone without a case, the 7 will be more durable
If you need a headphone jack, the 6s is a great, valuable alternative
If you are frightened to drop your phone into water, go with the 7
If you are looking for the best value, the 6s is the king
If you film really much with your phone (20 sec a week is not that much, but I just wanted to point out one advantage), wait until prices drop shortly and after christmas, then buy the 8.

all cores can be used at once (iPhone 7 could only use 2 at once)
GPU 30% faster (now their own, with 3 cores instead of 12)
And the faster modem will make it more future proof, just like LTE on the iPhone 5 did.
Just here you can see how iPhones are built to last, the processor is faster to handle future iOS versions and have longer support than iPhone 7.

Aluminum was more durable for people who use it without a case, but those having a case on their phone will appreciate it because the dust between case and phone makes scratches into the phone, and the harder glass will suffer less from that than the soft aluminum. This pissed me of about the iPhone 5 when I used it with a cheap eBay case. There were so many little dents. With the iPhone 7, I went with an original Apple case and luckily, the only thing having that problem is the apple logo when held in direct light (there it has many many little dots on it), but if you take the direct light source away (used flashlight for this), it looks normal and with iPhone 8, it would look even better.
