It needed the design of iphone 6.
The design is old. Infact, it is from the same manufacturing machine with no extra cost. Thats why the cost came down.
Just bundling few things here and there and selling the scrap doesn't suits Apple. Its a brand and not some cheap phone company.
Even if you see the event. Claps were less. People were less excited. Its just showing old things.
I had imagined smaller design of iphone 6.

Being a 5s user and with expectations of a little bit increase in size. I would plan to buy 6s just because of a bigger screen as the specs doesn't matter much with the same UI and no difference in the type of applications both the iPhone 5s and 6s run. So SE is not a good choice for current 5s owners but a very good choice for news users who want to try Iphone for first especially within a great budget.

I think this would be a great phone. 6s in a smaller footprint and smaller screen res. The battery is small but considering the drop in screen res i predict it would still be in the 60-65 hr mark of gsmarena battery rating. And yes, it would beat iphone 6s and galaxy s7 in some benchmarks if only Apple not downclocked the CPU and GPU.
