Aadrian, 21 Jul 2022I installed the iOS 15.6 update. I'm keeping mine until the apps I need stop working on IOS 15. Love small phones, will probably to upgrade to an iPhone Mini in a few years time though.

I installed the iOS 15.6 update.

The Flip, 14 Jun 2022I’m in the minority that thinks the iPhone SE released in 2... moreWhy do you hate Face ID? It uses infrared which works in the dark. When I had an 8 plus I had to use my password every time I wanted to unlock my phone, because it almost never recognises my finger. Also the display of the 12/13 mini is much bigger because of the notch. I’m not hating, I bought the se 2016 for my collection, because I really like it. If it was on iOS 14 I would jailbreak it to get the gestures. I can’t live without them, I’m really thankful that my iPad 5 has gestures. Unfortunately, the iPhone se 2016 will not support iOS 16, but it’s totally understandable, it’s already 6 years old. What I don’t understand is why they dropped support for the iPhone 7. I’m using an iPhone XS max and it’s heavier than a brick. I also have a 7 in my collection, it feels like feather, but the iPhone se 2016 is even lighter somehow.

              I have the 64gb variant.
I keep her at ios 14.8 and its very snappy
Could keep up with my 256gb iPhone 11
I keep background app refresh off so that i dont waste battery.
Screen is very responsive for a 6 year old phone
This is still a very solid phone unless you want to game

Dia, 24 May 2022How is battery life in ios 15.5?I don't see any degradation. I am disappointed in the battery life of the iPhone SE (2022) though.

iOS 15.5 seems less power-hungry than 15.0 -- this model appreciates that difference.
My wife's rose SE 2016 (16GB) was tight on memory and another family member's gray SE (32GB) had horrible battery consumption, so both got shoved in a drawer (in 2020). I pulled them out in June 2022, erased and set up both with new Apple ID's on new iOS 15.5 -- rose 16GB now runs for 10 hours on iOS 15.5 (battery life is 85%) but gray 32GB begged for battery service. With a new battery it's still alive 24 hours later (there was some gaming and YouTube involved).

The Flip, 14 Jun 2022I’m in the minority that thinks the iPhone SE released in 2... moreI'm still using it as daily driver since 2018 👍

I’m in the minority that thinks the iPhone SE released in 2016 is the greatest iPhone ever made. Might be the last truly great iPhone. I’m typing from mines right now on iOS 15.5 and it works surpassingly well after 6 years. I did need to restore it to fix the battery drain.

                        - Best iPhone design ever
                        - Last to offer headphone jack
                        - Lightest iPhone, lighter than the 4 and 12/13 minis
                        - Easy and cheap to replace the battery

I don’t need gestures or 120 Hz. I hate Face ID because I tend to use my phone at night with no lighting and it won’t unlock. I’m not sure Apple will make an iPhone as great as the SE1 ever again. And I owned the OG, 3G, 4, 4S, 5, 5S, 7, and 12 mini.

The 12 mini’s battery life was never a problem for me. I just hated Face ID and assistive touch is no longer useful as I still use toggles from it. I'm forced to do extra steps to find toggles. I also hated the notch which obscured certain things on top.

The 12 mini really wasn't that comfortable to hold one-handed since the screen was stretched. Harder to use one-handed than a 4.7" iPhone 7. As heavy as the 4/4S which was 25-30 grams more than a 5/5S/SE1. Add a case which adds even more weight.

I hear the 13 mini has better battery life but I don't care. We are forced to use Face ID instead of having a choice to use Touch ID as an alternative. Apple treats their consumers like cattle.

I might get the SE3 if I find a good deal for it. Yeah, the design is extremely old. Basically, from 8 years ago with huge top and bottom bezels. But I don't care. I hate Face ID and much prefer Touch ID.

Still has an A15 chip that will be found in the non-Pro 14s. Might be the last iPhone with home button as the SE4 will start looking like the 11s or 12/13 minis which I can't tolerate.

Ever since iOS 15 my beloved phone has turned to arse.
Put a new battery in and still losing chunks of battery.

The Flip, 08 Jun 2022I only use my SE as an iPod touch but it’s unlocked. This i... moreFresh restore? Do ypu mean reset? Or what?

I only use my SE as an iPod touch but it’s unlocked. This is what I did to preserve battery life…

                              - Keep storage at 70% filled or less. Mine is 33% filled.
                              - Use Brave Browser over Safari.
                              - Don’t use widgets even in the Today View.
                              - Keep at low power mode at all times (see battery yellow).
                              - If you update the software, do a fresh restore.
                              - Location services off at all times.

My battery life has gotten better doing all those but it’s still not great. But it doesn’t drain chunks at a time. Instead of 4%, more like 2%. Standby time went back to normal after a fresh restore.

My SE’s battery health went from 99% to 92% after 17 months but iOS15 really killed it. I only use it for YouTube, light browsing, and screen recording nude scenes.

Good phone. I like mixing and matching it with my flip phones and Pixel 3 which I turned into my Dreamcast/PSP.
