You are getting all of it at a compititive price, but at the cost of looks and IPS LCD screen (although very good with Apple standards).
Moreover, this is just a launch price, in 3-4 months it should come down by 2-3k.
Things to Note -
1. Outdated but premium design (glass back and aluminium frame)
2. Battery life - I am not so sure about battery performance though. It should last 8-9 hours full charge with daily usage. THIS IS IMPORTANT factor. Good thing is that it supports fast charging upto 18W.
3. No AMOLED - even the screen is not AMOLED, it is pretty good display with ample of brightness and color accuracy.
4. No Ultrawide and telephoto lens - Frankly speaking, how frequently do we use a telephoto or Ultrawide lens and to capture what really? I feel having a single primary camera which provides best image quality and processing is a way to go. This is what we use most of the times, right?
Conclusion -
So, I feel this is a great value for money buy. Many better looking androids are available in this price range but how many of them are providing best processor and best camera at the same time? Think! It's a sensible buying option.

Non HD LCD Screen, less than 2000 mah battery, single camera, no headphone jack, 5W charger in box with the option to buy a new 18 W charger for astronomical price, 2GB Ram, 7 MP (yes, single digit megapixel) selfie camera, no expandable memory...so much for ONLY $399. What more to people want at this price? Geez, haters gonna hate

720p LCD for this amount of money ? looool ....even Youtube does not show HD logo anymore on 720p videos as are not considered HD starting 2020.

not sure i'd pay that ... moreIphone 8 had A11 Bionic chip but SE has the new A13 Bionic chip which means even if the battery size is same the battery life will be much longer than iphone 8 .
It’s all because the A11 Bionic chip was based on 10nm+ process and A13 is based on 7nm+ So this make a whole lot of difference in performance of battery and power consumption

I'm happy with this SE launch. SIncerely I like that design, I like a phone that I can use with one hand easily, I still use a 128GB iPhone 7 and if I changed it it would be for that, I still don't see the need for an Xr or an 11 and if they give me something more modern Inside, with the size of an 8 and at the price of an 8, well, I'll keep that one :) and I insist, it's not for everyone, but for those of us who like a small and easy-to-handle phone and like use iOS over Android any time.

4.7 inches? awww that's not great for me. Should have gone for 5.5 at least. I love bigger displays. No doubt Apple have better chips but bigger displays have better controls on gaming as per my experience.

I don't care too much but I can see Steve Jobs turning into grave for this, this is why he was a genius and would never come out with such phone.
They didn't understand that it was the size not the price that made SE successful, what they should have done was to make a phone the same size as original SE, without bezels.... That's all....

Still I agree this phone will be a barely one day battery phone if put to real use.
