Apple has done this before and it was successful with the original iPhone SE based on iPhone 5, Apple knows to price this at 399 and it will attract people who like an apple iPhone but don't want a massive screen or depend on having the latest camera.
These phones will sell very well, especially to companies and people who want a new phone but at a low monthly cost.

For the same reason why the original iPhone SE sold very well is that people were happy with the simplicity of it, small and compact and still able to do smartphone functions, I agree with you that this device is only refreshing an older design but some people will be happy with that and $399 many people will buy it because if they look at the alternatives, many with big screens which many get put off due to the cost of a potential repair.
Plus you're assuming many people just focus on having a camera and big screen, Some don't, some people just want a phone.
If people were focusing on the camera aspect and screens then they're better options. This phone will sell quite easily, especially as company phones.

Some people don't care about a 90% screen-to-body ratio. Besides, as long as it's not ugly (which this isn't, dated and ugly aren't synonyms) who cares about design? iPhone 6-style phones are still common today.

If you're looking at all the cheaper prices, what the truck is the point of the $400 SE? Even Apple knows it means almost nothing. Basically, all you get is:
- 720p LCD display
- Faster processor
- Single camera
- 2013's design
- STILL 64GB BASE STORAGE
- Huge bezels, they could've made the fingerprint under the display like Samsung does.
Logically, when you're able to record 4k video in 60fps, 64GB in today's standard is not enough. They only supply it to bait you for the next logical storage upgrade. I wanna know what the 128GB SE will cost.

If you're expected dual sim and 5G then you've been missed informed about this device. This is to target people who doesn't care about having the latest gadget other then having a phone for everyday use.

While, I can see the appeal for users to go for this phone, I would prefer plus version.
