"Looking forward to the SE 4, but expecting the usual poor battery and laughably small screen. It really should be priced at $100. Hopefully, version 4 will finally have a proper 6.1-inch screen, which is the minimum size needed even for a 'compact' phone now."

Best sensible phone you could buy. Get it while you can. Apple won't be this sensible going forward

Some phones do offer iCloud support for Google Play services (Nokia devices in particular), so signing into Google with your iCloud account should sync most of the data, once you setup your phone. You might need to download the Android versions of the apps as a pre-requisite, and they're much smaller than the iOS versions in terms of download size.

Michael McCarthy, 22 Jan 2025You’re probably right but switching from iPhone to android ... moreIt's extremely seamless today, unlike 7-8 years ago.
You can use AirDrop with Nearby Share, use the prospective brand's file transfer app (Samsung's Smart Switch), ShareIt, use your iCloud account on both devices, Bluetooth (works only on a handful of Android devices effectively, especially Nokia devices due to EU legislations) or use a Lightening to Thunderbolt (USB Type-C cable, most effective of all the above). 👍

Michael McCarthy, 31 Dec 2024Thanks for your advice. Yeah I’m gonna stay with my 8 Plus ... moreYou might as well get the Nokia XR21, which is one of the last mass-market consumer phones with a Retina LCD. You have better options elsewhere in the Android side of devices because Apple isn't even trying to capture the niche that prefers older features. I lack trust in Apple's face ID implementation due to higher risks of manipulation. Also, Apple wouldn't care about larger capacity Si/C batteries, a far more modern and reliable battery technology compared to decades-old Li-Ion and Li-Po batteries, which are both cheaper and have higher failure rates, raking Apple Care in net profits due to the use of dated Li-Ion batteries in their devices.
I'm typing this from a nearly 8-year-old Nokia 8 because they no longer cater to the demographic that prefers 16:9 displays, headphone jacks, usable Thunderbolt ports, 1440p displays on a budget, and MicroSD slots.

The 64GB version fills up very fast! One hour of 4K60fps video takes up about 45GB of space on this phone and then you are SOL!

I consider buying this SE 2022 for its handiness and processor speed, besides to get the chance to live in two kingdoms: Android and IOS.

I’ll also be saying goodbye to the full screen of my 8 plus :’(
Apple should make an iPhone that’s full screen by using an under-display camera and they should also add Touch ID under-display or to the power button. Other phones have these features. Come on Apple.

I’ll possibly get an SE 4 and finally say farewell to the home button and Touch ID. I’ll guess I’ll get used to it and if not well I don’t really have a choice in the future.

Michael McCarthy, 28 Dec 2024I’ll need to upgrade from my iPhone 8 Plus at some stage bu... morePlease don't even think about such "upgrade". I owned se 2022 for 2 months and then sold it, replaced battery in 8 plus and still using 8 plus now. So what I can say about se 2022.
Pros:
- works really fast;
- latest updates for iOs, new functionalities for system and all aplle's apps, so for example, books app has new features I really liked;
- better photo and video quality;
- gps works faster and more accurate;
- better gsm connection, for real. I have bad signal on subway with 8 plus. Se is better;
- handy size, light weight.
Cons:
- terrible battery. 3,5 hours on cellular network, 4,5 hours on wifi. And I mostly use cellular so charging it twice a day, no heavy usage btw;
- small screen gave me eye strain. Hard to read text. Because of small screen some apps are uncomfortable to use for example - navigation apps;
- phone got heat;
So stay with 8 plus, wait for SE 4.

I’ll need to upgrade from my iPhone 8 Plus at some stage but if I get an SE like this one I’ll be downgrading the screen resolution and battery so I don’t know what I’m gonna do.
I guess I’ll have to eventually get used to not having the home button and Touch ID when I get a new iPhone. I’ll probably also have to accept having a notch at the top of the screen unless Apple start using that under-screen camera tech which is possible because I think I read that they were looking at it and got patent/s for it.

Hi. I am currently using a Samsung a05s. I really like the apple font as well as the UI ? I think... that holds the visual of the phone. I also like appearance of emojis. It looks so clean to me. Now, I plan on using an iphone for my last phone that I will be using through college. I am heavily attracted to this phone for its size. I am not too keen on big phones and I don't really mind the camera. I think choosing this phone over something else is impractical, but I really like this one. Hope someone helps! I have been contemplating my choices on my own and it's not easy. Thanks.
