The 7 instructions per cycle on their core's design is made for that.
Outside benchmarks, cores spend their time waiting for answers from the previous cycle.
But it is usable only in marginal applications, it is power hungry, expensive...
For nearly no real life improvement.
Geekbench single core scores, 1500pts (2 IPC) vs 4500pts (7 IPC) :
- tiny apps : Apple's system will use LITTLE core to sage batterie life...iPhone can be slower
- big apps : Apple is faster by far.

As most of time, you handle your phone in portrait mode, the wider your screen is un this mode, the larger your text will be, the easier you will be able to read : it's logical for people who think a little bit.
Some comparison of how wide are the screens compare to 16/9 :
- 6" 18/9 is like 5.5" 16/9
- 6.2" 19/9 is like 5.5"
- 5.8" 19.5/9 (iPhone X/Xs) is like 5.0"
- 6.1" 19.5/9 (XR) is like 5.2"
Simple mathematical facts!
The less wide your device is, the easier you will handle it. Easy to understand too.
If you take LG G2 from 2013 with 5.2" 16/9 screen, it is 70.9mm wide, iPhone XR in 2018 is 75.7mm wide...when their screen are both as wide.
Design has two goals : improving geometry to fit usage, and esthetic.
You can like esthetic, it's your taste...
But about the first goal, XR is badly designed : mathematical fact!
Marketing is made to make people forgeting imperfections...
Some people do...
Others are pragmatics.
Apple is the master of marketing...
You can believe or think by yourself.
My arguments are mathematical facts, you're answer is treating people who really "think different" and call them fandroid.
The next think will be "you're jalous, you can't afford it"? ISheep's gimics.
I don't considers all Apple's customers like that...people do what they want.
But for some who denies mathematics and use the word "fandroid", no mercy

Apple's conception of borderless : 5.6mm on each side...that means your device is 11.2mm, more than a CENTIMETER, larger than your screen!
