Apple led global tablet shipments in 2024 as the market rebounds
Global tablet shipments grew by 9% in 2024, reaching 147.6 million units for the calendar year. According to sell-in shipments analysis from Canalys, the October-December period (Q4) totaled 39.9 million units, representing a 5.6% rise compared to Q4 2023.
Apple led the way last year with an estimated 56.9 million tablet shipments and a 38.6% market share. Samsung came in second place with 27.8 million shipments and an 18.8% share of the global market, while Huawei was third with 10.4 million units shipped and a 7.3% market share.
Lenovo barely missed out on the third spot with its 10.4 million shipments and 7.1% market share. Xiaomi rounded out the top-five with 9.2 million shipments and a 6.2% market share while also boasting an impressive 73.1% annual growth. That was also enough to displace Amazon and its Fire tablets from the global top-five list.
As per Canalys analysts, the global PC market refresh cycle positively affected tablet demand worldwide. Corporate tablet demand is expected to grow in 2025, while the consumer side will likely face constrained performance.
