Apple reportedly suspends Vision Pro 2's development as it aims to release cheaper model next year
A few months ago, we heard the Apple Vision Pro 2 wasn't coming until at least August 2025. However, The Information claims Apple has suspended work on the Vision Pro 2 and aims to release a cheaper model in late 2025.
The publication claims that the number of employees assigned to Vision Pro 2's development had gradually decreased, and Apple told at least one of its suppliers that it had suspended work on the second-gen Vision Pro.
It's unclear how much the cheaper Vision headset will cost, but The Information says Apple is aiming to price it around $1,500.
The low-cost Vision will expectedly skimp on some features of the Pro model. Rumors claim the cheaper Vision will borrow the high-end display from the Pro model but come with a simpler headband, small speakers, and fewer cameras. However, Apple is said to be struggling to reduce the cheap Vision's price without cutting down on too many features.
The Information says it's possible Apple could resume work on the Vision Pro 2 in the future, but for now, the development has been suspended to focus on the cheaper model.

still about 3x as expensive as it should be. Don't see why anyone would buy this when the quest 3 exists and can actually run games

The cheaper model will lose the "Pro" moniker and just be called "Vision"? I'm actually looking forward to seeing the cheaper model and seeing what it offers compared to the expensive model.
