Apple Watch shipments declined for second year in a row
2024 may have been a great year for Apple on the smartphone front, but its smartwatch shipments did not follow in the same footsteps. According to a report from Counterpoint Research, Apple Watch shipments declined by 19% in 2024. As per the report, Apple saw declining demand for its smartwatches in all regions except for India.
Counterpoint Research Global Smartwatch Shipment Tracker (Q4 2024)
Apple saw a significant decline across North America, which has traditionally been Cupertino’s key growth driver. In addition, Q4 2024 marked the fifth consecutive quarter of declining Apple Watch shipments. Counterpoint’s report suggests that the lack of a new Apple Watch SE model was a big factor for the declining shipments. The minimal upgrades on the Watch Series 10 were another big factor for the disappointing results.

On the other hand, all of Apple’s competitors saw growing smartwatch shipments. The next generation Watch SE coupled with an updated Watch Ultra 3 could help Apple get back on track but we’ll just have to see how things play out this year.

This is literally due to a few factors. Nobody is upgrading their smartwatch every 1-3 years. Not many people need smartwatches. Their smartphone can already do most of it, besides ECG and other functions
