The latest OS thingy, for me, is not that important. Considering, the device still working well even without latest version OS. I own this device as well, I found this device is among the most stable tablet compared to the other similar budget tablet.
Well, not to say latest OS is not good either. Latest OS offer new feature and new service.
However, there are known priority on getting OS update. Google branded device for sure will be the fastest to get updated. Then down to other top brand flagship device to get updated after a few month. Those big brand also only focus on their flagship device, non-flagship device will get update in much slower pace, or didn't get updated at all.
Those lower tier brand, such as ASUS, won't promise to upgrade their old device either. This is the same case with other lower tier brand, such as those from Chinese brand, or country's local brand.

When I updated my Asus fonepad 7 it is working indeed, but when I open settings and click onto the display it is showing that "unfortunately settings has stopped"what can I do for this?

It is a very good smartphone-tablet hybrid. The only problem I have is that I cannot upgrade the android version from 4.1.2 to any other later version.

Anyway, try update your pad with latest Android update to check if similar problem happen again.
If problem still exist, take it to service center for a fix, or change another unit.

Asus fonepad 8 K016
Bought on february 2015. 1st week using facing problem to opening contact and messaging.which is so slow. Take time 5-10minutes. Even im dialing some one to call it takes a few minutes to get it. Very bad. And now im looking what is the root causes.

I'm writing this comment again with my 2 year old Fonepad, 1.2 Ghz Atom Processor, 8GB storage, 1GB Ram.
This tablet still work like the 1st day I bought it. It is still much faster than comparable cheap Samsung and Lenovo Tab.
At least after 2 years, all function is still working fine.
It is much less lag than Samsung Tab and Lenovo Tab, even is installed with various apps. The screen is also sharper and much vibrant too. Viewing angle, pixel density, color reproduction is among the best in the same price range. The touch screen remain very sensitive. No sudden hang, no auto restart. It just perform slow, but won't die in the middle of process.
It won't comparable, or faster than any other highend tab, but is the best among its own budget category. Tablet and phone in one device. It is outperform by its own successor too, with much beefy Intel quad core processor. No other budget tab can come close to this.
Love this tab just like the 1st day own it.

I have my Asus Fonepad since I it was first released. I've never had a problem with it. None. It works perfect, the battery is very good. I used it as a phone several times and I'm totally happy about it. As we are now in 2015..it's kinda slow..and I'm used to my Note4.. but I would not trade my tablet for anything else. I like to read ebooks on it..I play games on it.. and did I mention the battery? :) I love it!

i got the worst maybe. the first 4 months, my fonepad is frozen up to a point where i have to hold the shutdown button for few seconds to shut it down and it wont start. after sending to the service center, another problem occur where i cannot access my quick access. one after another had made me given up on using asus product ever again.

It is SD card slot issue.
Mine has this problem before, where it cannot properly detect the SD card (sometime can, but it always eject the card after sometime).
After the repair, my Fonepad working perfectly. Indeed, it is the fastest device to detect and read the SD card (especially on larger size 32GB/64GB card, regardless on the card speed), compare to my Samsung device.

My google playstore is not working from last 3 days..whenever I open it, it only shows "your google playstore has stopped unfortunately"
actually not only that..it shows everything that i ve shows "your.......has stopped unfortunately"
when re start i tought i will go away but it worsen..i can t even open the tab at all..it keep circling...
What should I do? i only use the asus for 6 months
as if its a waste of money

it is working properly but cant work receive calls and cant call that happened when i upgraded or updated two days ago.

the asus table is acknowledging sim card but can not call and receive calls? it just putting a small circle on top and inside it a cross. so what is the solution o he problem
