I think this device is very good, its one of the best I have come across, soon as I unboxed it and powered it, I got two firm updates, that made it either faster or smoother.
The guys here are saying you look like a fool answering calls without headsets.. I think that's a stupid comment! Fine, I agree - ASUS should have added some headsets.. but again I have several pairs from BEATS BY DRE to SENNHIEZER..(don't know how to spell it..) to JVCs..to those that come with BLACKBERRY so not a big deal.
This device was made for people who either cant afford the top of line tablets or those that are new to tablets.. like me.. and soo far I like this device..
its possible to use this outdoors, I am not into games so no big deal, charging time is faster than I expected, discharge time is as good as any 4" smartphone which me is impressive, considering I have used other tablets that did not go a full day without a second or third charge.. Sound quality is good..
VERDICT: ignore the negative comments.. if you have the cash for it and would like to try.. just go for it.. you ll only need a week to decide if you love or hate this device..
I do..

No way to move your apps to SD card...so forget about your files and apps while updating OS or restoring it. Be ready to spend lots of time to customize it again as per your liking.

I bought this phone on 8 May 2013 and have the following problems:
1. It takes very long to charge the battery, sometimes charge overnight and still cannot have full battery.
2. When using Google Map, I was unable to calibrate the compass.
3. I was unable to boot the phone last week and have to send the phone for repair under warranty today. At the service center, I saw a few persons sending the same phone for repair.

Tapesh, 19 Jun 2013Don't buy it...
Reason:
1.Grainy Picture....so what is us... moreDo buy it...
Reasons:
1. With the money you save (it is cheap) buy a digital camera to get better quality photos than with an Android device.
2. It may not be good for playing heavy games like Temple Run but that is because of the nice price+nice battery+heat prevention.
3. Poor visibility in daylight, so not recommended if you do not have a roof or a tree near you (sorry for the sarcasm).
4. Screen is dust magnet also scratch-prone…be ready to use extra bucks to USE A SCREEN PROTECTOR AND A MICROFIBER CLOTH.
5. Is there really no gyro sensor?? (i am actually asking :S)
6. The guy i am replying posted: "Don’t go by the advertisement that you can talk with it. You have to buy many accessories….Headphone, Hands-free, Earplug etc. for using it as phone (and yes ASUS will not give you anything except charger with it). After all taking a call by 7”inch tablet will make you look like a fool only."... So this guy NEEDS a headphone AND hands-free AND Earplug AND whatever-he-was-thinking-when-he-put-etc all the same time to use a big smartphone and if you (the reader of this post) have a Fonepad and put it next to your ear, then you know he thinks you are looking like a fool.
7. "No way to move your apps to SD card...". Yeah right.. http://www.maketecheasier.com/another-way-to-back-up-android-without-root/2013/04/18
8. If you feel slow then stop unused apps... If the internal storage is getting full consider a MicroSD (a class 6 should be affordable since you already saved buying this phablet in the first place)
9. Does it hang when syncing with Google?? (really asking too)
10. Quote: "Music player is just OK….it does not enhance your music listening experience (Tested with Sennheiser CX 400 II). Video player does not support common format like *.avi etc. You have to download other video player from Google play store… again giving you pain.". Yeah you will have to suffer downloading MX Player people.
Quote: "If this 10 reasons are not enough to distract you from buying this product, go ahead, burn…yes burn your money and regret. Join the club of unsatisfied users. My mercy with you…". So yeah there you go people :) you get his/her mercy YAY!

hana, 21 Jun 2013hi,is this fonepad for a gamelovers? usually i play game li... moreIf you play casual games only like Subway Surfers, the Fonepad is fine. But if you intend to play more graphically intensive games like GTA Vice City or Real Racing 3, forget it. The Fonepad's weak GPU, the now 3 years old PowerVR SGX 540 just doesn't cut it. I would wholly recommend buying a Nexus 7 WiFi which retails for the same price the Fonepad does or spending a bit more for a Nexus 4 which is an amazing phone.

Don't buy it...
Reason:
1.Grainy Picture....so what is use of rear camera if the pictures are so bad. It captures pictures so poor that will make you regret later. Better you cherish those moments rather than capturing them with this device.
2. Not good for playing heavy games like Temple Run. Heavy games will just hang up this device or may give u headache due to a lag in operation.
3. Poor visibility in daylight.
4. Screen is dust magnet also scratch-prone…be ready to use extra bucks to save it from dust and scratch even then you will be unsatisfied.
5. No gyro sensor….so precision loss in playing games which requires some movement of device (Ohh…. I forgot that this device is a horror for game players).
6. Don’t go by the advertisement that you can talk with it. You have to buy many accessories….Headphone, Hands-free, Earplug etc. for using it as phone (and yes ASUS will not give you anything except charger with it). After all taking a call by 7”inch tablet will make you look like a fool only.
7. No way to move your apps to SD card...so forget about your files and apps while updating OS or restoring it. Be ready to spend lots of time to customize it again as per your liking.
8. Slows down when displaying gallery.....it takes lots of time in updating gallery thumbnails when the internal storage is full.
9. Hangs when syncing with Google.
10. Music player is just OK….it does not enhance your music listening experience (Tested with Sennheiser CX 400 II). Video player does not support common format like *.avi etc. You have to download other video player from Google play store… again giving you pain.
If this 10 reasons are not enough to distract you from buying this product, go ahead, burn…yes burn your money and regret. Join the club of unsatisfied users. My mercy with you…
