Have anyone of you guys tried to install Manila 2D on this device, I was reading up that its now possible to load this on non HTC devices.
Another thing, I have around 10 MB free space on the device, is this ok, other than Pointui and my T9 application , I have pushed everything to the Storage card while installing. What is the space available when you start out from the 64 MB.

Sillent, 03 Nov 2008Are you sure with the Kingmax?I just ordered this phone+a K... moreHi everyone,
Sillent got a the same spec Kingmax 4 GB class 6 SD card like mine that I had, and SPB Benchmark ran without errors on it. So it seems that not every Kingmax/Transcend card is "incompatible" with the P320.

1) the baterry is so bad it will last you for half a day only that too if you are not using other applications
My battery lasts 2 days with some apps and music listening thrown in.
2) Signal reception is too bad and i am facing lot of call drops.
I dont face call drops but yes sometimes the signal just goes off and i need to do a soft reset.
3)Speaker quality and ear phone quality are nowhere near to other normal phones
Speaker quality is adequate and earphone quality is comparable to my Imate phone.
4) not a relaible phone, it hangs suddenly and network goes off often
Never hung on me , but the network problem happens once in 2 days or so but is easily fixed by a soft boot.
5)Display is pathetic you cannot see what is going on the screen on daytime.
Screen is awesome, all lcds are unreadable in sunlight, is this your 1st colour phone ?
6) often it is not showing me the sim contacts list and it drives me mad.
What ? , that isnt even possible i think.

I have a WIDCOMM stack on my laptop, when I select Dial up Networking, it just throws an error. It is not even installing the Bluetooth Modem. I manually tried to install the bluetooth modem and tried, still no luck.
Anyone got some ideas ?
Am putting together a small writeup on the phone based on all the contributors here. Its not complete but see if it is useful

Mathan, 04 Nov 2008Hi Prasanth, I have bought mapking main software an... moreYou need to install the software first, if it gives and option install on storage card instead of main memory then most probably you need to copy the maps to some folder within the install directory. This would be mentioned in the installation guide.

I have been using this phone for 4 months and my advise to whoever looking for this one is "STAY AWAY".
1) the baterry is so bad it will last you for half a day only that too if you are not using other applications
2) Signal reception is too bad and i am facing lot of call drops.
3)Speaker quality and ear phone quality are nowhere near to other normal phones

6) often it is not showing me the sim contacts list and it drives me mad.
finally at this budget you have a lot of options and do not go buy the show room sales person as ther are incentivised heavily for selling this model

Sillent, 03 Nov 2008Are you sure with the Kingmax?I just ordered this phone+a K... moreHi,
I had a Kingmax 4 GB class 6 microSD card. Asus says that all Kingmax cards have problems (or the other way: the Asus P320 has problems with Kingmax cards).
Try to cancel the order and buy something else, maybe Sandisk, Kingston... etc. The speed index doesn't matter, my A-Data card is class 2 and I see no real speed difference; Also, the (theoretical!) speed difference in SPB Benchmark between these 2 cards was 0-15%.

Checkpoint after using this phone for about 4 months:
This device is very good, if you are not a hardcore user.
-battery: I tried different phone operators, and the battery lasts for 3-5 days, depending on the operator (!);
-build quality: some weeks ago I was in a techno club and while taking some photos it fell off to the ground 2 times, the last time it fell so hard, the battery cover & battery came out, but else no scratch at all. Only the stylus broke (I think the first time it came a little out, and the second time the phone fell, the stylus broke). I still have not found a replacement for the pen;
-navigation: I covered several thousands of kilometers in Europe with the GPS and iGo 6 and iGo 2008 installed; the navigation was a very good help and companion, and for me the P320 was well worth the money;
-software: I still use the standard Windoze today screen with the Asus applet. I wait for PointUI 2 or for the next version of Throttle Launch.
I still have firmware V4.10, planning to upgrade after another firmware comes out besides 4.13. I hate the fact that the settings are deleted after every upgrade, so I skip every second firmware.
Another thing: try to avoid all Kingmax (not Kingston!) and the 4 GB Transced micro SD cards, like it says in the Asus readme.txt. I previously had a Kingmax 4 GB card and got random errors with the device, especially when starting iGo 6 and iGo 2008. Somehow, these cards cannot either manage the filesystem properly or not quick enough. I tried the SPB Benchmark, and some filesystem tests always failed on the Kingmax card, but with an A-Data 2 GB card I had no problems. Also, the sporadic errors and crashes were gone with the A-Data card. Not to mention that you cannot upgrade the firmware with the above mentioned cards (I tried that too).

kelrulez, 02 Nov 2008i bought this phone n used it approx. 4 mths.It was all goo... moreYour suggestions on better pixel camera and bigger RAM memory surely deserve attention from Asustek developers.
Since we are aware of P320's limitations, we should take care not to "overload" the memory and I try to use applications that are functional ( apps with great graphics are memory hogs ), and go for useful but less memory hungry applications. By doing so, the phone battery will also last longer. By the way, be sure to upgrade to latest ver 4.13 for better battery performance. Eventually, when I reach limit of memory, I will then go for overclocking. But finally, I would certainly consider to trade up for the next Asus device (P552w not there yet)if they actually incorporate great users' suggestions such as yours...

i bought this phone n used it approx. 4 mths.It was all good initially but recently it always hang and running extremely slow,small capacity of built-in memory and poor camera quality(although have a bigger screen n resolution).
But overall it's a nice phone to use but if asus can try to remedy the few weaknesses i've pointed out:-
1.Better pixels of camera
2.Bigger built-in memory
It wil surely be the best ever phone in market coz it's light,user-friendly thus most importantly much much cheaper compare to those so called "PDA heavyweights"!!
