Asus Padfone goes on pre-order in Taiwan, will launch April 20

05 April, 2012

One of the most curious devices of this season is getting ready to hit the shelves. Just as promised, Asus will be delivering its Padfone droid phone/tablet/netbook later this month with pre-orders in Taiwan set to start tomorrow.

Taiwanese customers will be able to book themselves a shiny new Asus Padfone for NTD 17,990 ($610). The tablet shell costs an extra NTD6,990 ($240), while the tablet dock will set you back a further NTD3919 ($130).

And while the total price of $980 seems pretty steep it's much cheaper than you'd normally have to pay for an S4-powered phone, tablet and keyboard dock. Plus Asus is willing to throw in an extra battery for the smartphone and that cool Bluetooth headset to sweeten the deal even further.

We are not sure if the European pricing of the Asus Padfone will be the same as the one in Asia, but we should find out soon enough.
