SMART P, 06 Apr 2012This whole model as one, does not make any sense. now day... morePlease read the entire specs or the product functions before you judge.
This is NOT an entirely useless device because the tablet and the keyboard increases the battery life.
I think BT keyboards are useless because it will drastically drain your phone's battery.

Donik786, 06 Apr 2012my scenario here will be : I am talking on the phone, but m... moreYou can buy your son and wife another tablet.
You can buy the phone first for your self. Then the pad then the dock if you want.
              Phone
              2phone+1tab
              3phones+2tab (if that permits)
              Phone+tab
              Phone+tab+keyboard

You have a lot of option.
And you can also look for the other mobile handset if you want.

Its not good if someone buy the tab without the phone... joke... :)

First of all, are you buying this devices for personal and office use or for the family?

                  Those scenarios are actually good.

                  But here's the catch:

                  http://www.asus.com/Mobile/PadFone/#overview

click the icon that says ONE STOP STORAGE

Note that if you read it, there is a phrase that says " So no matter which device you used last"

Then click the icon that says DYNAMICDISPLAY

another phrase that says "...PadFone to PadFone Station and vice versa."

Based on those phrases...there is a possibility that both devices can operate independently. ofcourse..this is my assumption. would be best to wait for it to come out so we would know.

                  lastly... click the SAVINGS icon.

                  Here's what it say.

When docked, the PadFone Station uses the PadFone’s 3G connection for internet access, so you only need one data plan for two devices. That translates to a whole lot of savings every year!

                  so you have two options:

by a phone and a tablet and get two data plans

or buy a padphone and get one data plan.

                  you choose.

Verbal_Criminal, 06 Apr 2012 well you can make and recieve calls on tablet or netbook ... moremy scenario here will be : I am talking on the phone, but my kids want to play on the tab in the next room.

If the tab do not work independently on wi-fi, its of no use. sheer wastage.

If I took the phone with me to office, and my wife want to work on the Tab !! This can be done if I buy different gadgets.
