Anonymous, 13 Apr 2023Good hardware but not worth it, do yourself a favour and ge... moreYou raise some good points. However, allow me to provide some counterpoints too.

1 - Mobile gaming is relevant because of portability.
1.1 - Possible alternative: the Switch, the Dex, or some other dedicated handheld console. But these devices are not as easily available everywhere as are smartphones. You can, of course, import one, but after-sales service (along with third-party servicing/repairing) is very important too, which is far more readily available for smartphones.
1.2 - With a gaming smartphone, on one portable device you get to access all kinds of stuff, including but not limited to internet browsing, photography, editing, infotainment, etc. While it is undeniable that purely from a gaming perspective a current-gen handheld has always been better than a current flagship and/or gaming smartphone, there are many people who prefer to carry one device which can do all things rather than multiple for different purposes.
    2. With a powerful enough smartphone, you are able to emulate all sorts of other platforms right on your phone. This means that the user is not limited to the few resource-intensive games that are available natively for the device itself, but also has access to thousands of other titles. This is something at which most current and past handheld consoles have been weak.
    3. If there are enough powerful gaming smartphones available, game developers will be more and more interested in producing AA/AAA games for the platform. This will indeed take some time, but just because there are not many such games available on the platform right now does not mean there cannot be in future. At some point in the past there was no device in the world that could run Cyberpunk 2077 or Dying Light 2 or Forza Horizon 5. Think of 2010, for instance. This did not stop hardware manufacturers from coming up with these modern and powerful pieces of hardware that *are* able to run these games. Why should the smartphone platform be any different? Mobile gaming is already a billion-dollar industry and, barring something catastrophic, it will only grow. Frankly, pointing to the current unavailability of games that are able to push these devices to their limits in order to suggest that these devices should not be produced or marketed is a very strange argument.

      Do Not Buy It.
I have the normal rog 6 16gb/512, had the chance to buy it for ~$600 at some promo sale.
Camera is so-so, its hit or miss, nothing extraordinary.
The battery goes down quickly either due poor software implementation or because of android, with data/wifi off, phone idle consumes a lot, tbh idk why, it just drains with the screen off, unused. its extremely annoying.
Fingerprint sensor its so sensitive and software so bad, it took me 2 days to set a single fingerprint which works only if u put the finger exactly in the right position, its a pain in the a**.
For some the sensor isnt working at all.
The phone is heavy but i guess everyone knows.
On zenforums lots of ppl are complaining about sound quality, speakers aren't working properly, even after updates.
Whats new in this iteration is the gen2 instead of gen1 soc and the UFS 4 instead of 3.1?
Its very expensive. Asus always sold their sht at very high prices. Tbh I feel sorry i bought it instead of the titanium version of RedMagic 8 which looks god damn amazing.
Imo you should be better with that Rad Magic which costs much less and has the same hardware and a better implementation of that software - Game Genie for Asus, idk the name for RedMagic but you get it.
So imo its not worth it but you do you, this is just my opinion.

Good hardware but not worth it, do yourself a favour and get the OnePlus 11 instead. The reasons are that this will only receive 2 Android updates at best while OnePlus will get 4, the OnePlus has better cameras, faster charging with guaranteed 1600 charging cycles to 80% capacity and is much more affordable as you can get the OnePlus and another really nice mid range phone for the same cost as this.

Mobile gaming, really, just game properly on a PC setup like everyone else and get a normal flagship phone without useless gimmicks as the type of mobile games that exist on Play Store do not require active cooling and these other things, gaming phones are pointless.

These gaming phones are getting extremely powerful 16gb of ram in a phone that is more than some computers have though there should be a 1tb version but 512 is still good I am guessing the price could be quite high for a phone of this spec
