I just ordered two of the 550 (red for me, white for my wife) from Expansys for about the price of half an iphone! Has same cpu and memory as my Asus Memo Pad 7 and that flies with 1080p, so the 720p phone should be proper quick.

Anonymous, 06 Apr 2015Are u experiencing any heating issues with this phone? No heating issues whatsoever. I can imagine though that the larger processor with the 4Gb memory pack could get warm as it takes a lot of juice to feed all of that. I am expecting when using Google maps that it may warm up a little bit but not hot. As for the FM radio question, both the 550 and 551 have a radio. I also believe that there are three phones in the 551 series to be in the final mix. The 1.8 processor with two ram variations and the 2.3 with only the 64 Gb ROM. If they made the 550 with the 1.8 and 32 Gb ROM along with 2 Gb memory that would very nice phone at the $200 US price point.

To make matters better, I've already purchased that very same colour model you have from the same eBay seller with FedEx shipping, and I'll have it hopefully by Monday, today. :) Your reasoning for getting model is exactly the same as myself, especially since I'm not from the US and can't be a part of any phone contract treadmill. Your thorough review will help many others see that this phone was worth the wait for those who waited and if you plan on stopping by xda forums, my username is the same I have here. Enjoy that sexy beast and I shall do so as well when I get my hands on mine. :D Cheers!

Aceofzeroz, 05 Apr 2015Thanks for your usage feedback so far, I'd like to know/be ... moreI am using the 551 with 32Gb ROM and 1.8 proc with the full HD 1080 screen. My choice was dictated by needing the 32 MB ROM as Lollipop still does not offer much freedom in moving apps off to and SD card 16 Gb can be a little tight for some. The full HD screen is very nice but I would have been happy with the 720p. I got the Taiwanese version off Ebay and the LTE and 4g settings are perfect for TMobile and much of AT&T even though it is missing the correct 700Mhz band for their LTE. I notice that neither the world version or the US version will have that band specifically even though I registered on HSPA+ with an AT&T sim installed. I am currently using Walmart Family Mobile and they cap the LTE at about 12Mbs and I get all of that when I have multiple bars. I don't really understand getting too wrapped up in ultra fast downloads and I can do absolutely anything at 5Mbs. As for how I like the phone, I have to put this phone in perspective. It is not an iPhone 6 or top of the line Galaxy. I have a car payment, mortgage and bills to pay and a seven hundred dollar phone is still going to be last year's technology a year from now and no phone is going to give me any more status among my peers. What I wanted was a well engineered phone that was quick, attractive and had great screen qualities for my aging eyes. The second criteria was a great camera and this phone has an exceptional camera for anyone who is not a professional. Automatic, full manual if needed and is fabulous in low light situations. Fast as hell I may add and will open on the locked phone by simply swiping a "C" on the screen. This alone can get you to a shot that other cameras would miss. Very, very fast focus by the way and gets to the next shot very quickly as it writes to the SD card very fast. The Zen UI is OK if you have to have some bloatware and it performs very well without any real stupid stuff. This phone is fast as hell even with the 1.8Ghz Atom and the 2 Gb of ram is very helpful and it barely ever gets the slightest bit warm. I can only imagine the 4 Gb version would be needed for heavy multitasking or gaming which I have not tried yet because I have never been that bored. Call quality is excellent. Speaker is better than most and music quality is very good. It has fast charging, FM radio and NFC which I never saw mentioned in the specs or reviews. The screen is stunning and looks just as good as any Amoled I have seen and I will bet that the 550ML with the 720p is also superb. I do think it is lacking a little bit in brightness but it does have full color control in the Splendid app if you need to play with the colors. While it has a plastic back cover, you would be hard pressed to tell it from an aluminum panel. Dual mode flash helps very much making perfect skin tone shots. Also on the back is the volume control which is a little tough to get used to but not the end of the world. As for the battery life, I have no objections. I'm not on it constantly like a teenage girl at the mall and get nearly two days worth of light use on one charge and it's not like there aren't several chargers available nearby at any given time. The feel in the hand is very nice and the narrow sides and the convex back fill out the palm and offer a good solid in-hand feel. All in all, it was a very wise purchase for someone who appreciates a lot of value. If you simply want bragging rights, spend your rent money on a Samsung or Apple. You can have that along with your two year contract. Me, I pay $40 bucks a month for great LTE service and don't owe a dime on my phone. As a last note, I have the gray version and it is sexy as hell but the red one looks like the $hit and I should have given that one more thought. Buy it, you will like it.
