It takes too long to release. The hype is gone cos a lot of other brands are pushing their flagship to the market that makes their main selling point become less unique especially for the 6gb ram and 821 snapdragon.... right now i m more interested in google pixel

Excellent alternative to Note 7 .
Normal flat display and top hardware with
Amoled Display. Battery can definitely be bigger since Samsung a9 pro fits 5000 mAh battery in a phone with a 6.0 inch display .

Phone is pretty good with nice specs. Massive storage and power makes this phone a good phone to buy. With google photos, you will be able to shoot photos with plenty of storage.

I tried the Zenfone 2 earlier this year and came defective right out of the box. The company customer service asked me to return the phone after it failed the factory reset. I did. Purchased NEXUS 6P - no problems, stellar performance and always up to date. For less than $799.00 I'd get the Google Pixlr XL.

I believe this will be my next phone. I've never owned a Asus product, but I think this is the one for me.

Imagine if the FP sensor was on the front face and you try to unlock it using one hand; holding the phone in one hand and unlocking it will probably cause you to drop the phone. I personally am very happy with rear FP sensor.

That's really odd because there's a infrared sensor on the back. I think that infrared sensor is for some other purpose.

AnonD-592448, 03 Oct 2016What's your impression about the phone, especially about ba... moreI came from Note 4 (SM-N910F)...
I actually don't feel much difference about battery life, device is running much less hotter than Note 4

I DO NOT have any IR remote hardware or any pre-installed IR remote app and I have tried several, I believe the IR sensor in the back of the device is for camera purposes for motion detection (similar to the one on Wii motes)

the device is very very fast and responsive (256GB/6GB RAM) and the "all metal" design looks so much more better than they advertised, it actually feels different from a lot of phones I held in the past (including iPhones), but I don't feel the difference regarding the antenna... though I did have some GPS issues but it was probably worked out after a software update

the touch screen is one of the best I have worked with, but the digital buttons on the bottom are somehow "too responsive", I sometimes want to press the back button "once" but it presses twice, I wish I could've modded the sensitivity, but it requires root...

and about root - in Zenfone 2 ASUS released a bootloader unlock tool to unlock the bootloader so you could install any recovery you'd want and from there you could flash root into your device (along with any ROM you want, but you don't really want to do that as of now), this time around I don't see any official bootloader unlock tool (and unofficial) and that's somehow really missing from android (could really love some of xposed mods) so if you are buying the device soon - you are going to accept that for now there's lack of root until the community at XDA or somewhere else decides to unlock the bootloader

about the camera - that's a story for itself... I can take pictures while moving and they'd turn great, I can take pictures on the darkest rooms and the pictures would turn great, I even took a picture directly facing the sun and it turn great... I never had the pleasure of auto-focus working so well while moving so you could take a picture while moving, this is very awesome for travelling, the back facing camera is THE BEST phone camera I have ever seen

The Zen UI launcher is very good - I came from Nova Launcher on the Note 4, what I loved
about the Nova Launcher is the ability to mod it to your liking, you could turn on count notification on all apps except specific (WhatsApp, Messaging, specific e-mail apps), you could include software implentation for "knock knock" similar to the one present on LG phones (which is very handy while driving) and various touch animations....
Zen UI doesn't do better than Nova Launcher but I didn't install Nova Launcher because Zen UI does pretty good job, it allows you to mod the notification count, give you different animation to different screen reaction, it allows you to have live wallpaper dependable on the time\battery left - which in my book is very creative, it allows you to have different grid sizes of the screens and multiple screens and it allows you to mod the folder grid size itself (the inside) but if you lack an option, you can't add it to the launcher like on Nova Launcher... I for example had on Nova Launcher the ability to add a button that when pressed, the device wouldn't require fingerprint to unlock, a handy option while driving, because even with the knock knock support Asus implented (in the hardware judging by the response time) It's not easy enough to type the custom PIN code, so for those of us who love the advantage of finerprint security but had to do it while driving - will have to wait till the device is rooted to gain that, but other than that the launcher is very open to you....
ofc you can e-mail Asus for support to include such option (prevent device lock) but that would kill the point of android... if I wanted someone to do the job for me and to wait while they do that - I'd go apple...

I am also a developer, I used my device as debugging device, I have to tell you that Zen UI lets you the freedom of that, Note 4's TouchWiz UI would sometimes (and very annoyingily) interfere with my debugging by reducing my app priority on the debugger on android, increasing CPU frequency suddenly (which would increase the timer frequency and therefore might leave some pieces out of sync) which made it very hard to stabilize my application for "proof of concept\possiblity" run before working on it to be more stablizied on other devices, while developing on the Note 4 I had to make sure the app is very very stable if I used unofficial libraries (such as Dropbox, Yahoo etc.... Firebase worked great though) because if I wouldn't, the app would crash... with this phone it didn't happen once, I don't know if it's because it's not using Samsung sources more than how Zen UI is (for example, I am sure developing on Nexus device would be as much fun) so I can't commend on Zen UI to be this friendly, but I can tell you that its more friendly than TouchWiz UI

as for gaming - I can't comment so much about it as I mainly installed emulators (GB & GBC, GBA, LucasArts SCUMMVM) but on the few games I did play (The World Ends With You Solo Remix, Hearthstone, FIFA 15: UT, Pokemon GO) the performance was much better than on the Note 4 (especially on heartstone - it is very heavy game unlike what everyone thinks), TWEWY Solo Remix ran extreemly fast, the improved touch input availabe on the phone made the game much better, heartstone loading time was decreased by a lot and runs much smoother (probably because heartstone works with a lot of cache memory and the UFS II storage runs faster), Pokemon GO app runs very quick (though dependable on the servers) but unless you tick power saver mode - it still uses a lot of battery (though unlike my Note 4, I didn't feel device heat) and the emulators are calibrated for lower end devices so I think it is kind of obvious they were very very fast and responsive on the Zenfone 3 Deluxe

as for hardware, I am not sure people noticed but you have the ability to either use 2 different simcards or 1 simcard & 1 memory card, that choice means a lot to me, even though I obviously chose the second one
