I would advice you to wait out the Zenfone 4 series in which the 4 version of this phone is guaranteed to have better specs. Check sites for when they'll announce the zenfone 4 series.

Seems like its a problem with the batch of units from March to May. I also contacted ASUS as I'm currently typing and they also got the me through the troubleshooting. Although, my handler was kind enough to say they can fix my phone if I bring it to their nearest service station. I'm from the Philippines if you're wondering.

I just bought mine last March 2017. All's well for the 1st 2 months. Then, a few weeks ago the screen just started flickering, especially when you're using it for a long time. I emailed ASUS and they have given me several steps on how to troubleshoot the problem but still to no avail. Last step was to reset & restore to factory settings, haven't done it yet because I still need to backup some files. If not for this issue I would say this phone is really great.

I bought Asus Zenfone 3 max 5.5" in Philippines because it's good in paper and affordable so I tried it. Unfortunately, it has very poor signal and sometimes can't receive calls and send SMS. Smart network is strong in my location and I transferred the sim card to my Samsung Win and it is full bar and no network issue so it is definitely a phone issue. I also experience that the network signal will shut off and need to restart the phone to restore the signal and receive sms. Sometimes the phone has full bar signal but can't receive a call and SMS.
Due to this problem, I intend to replace the defective phone but the seller said to change the setting to 2G and not use the 2G, 3G, 4G option but this is not acceptable so I ask to change the unit. The replacement also can't use the 2G, 3G option and the signal is falling down but using my Samsung Win is full bar so I asked for a Full Refund. Now, I am waiting for my refund since the seller said they will send the unit to ASUS and will take a week to process.
My 1st experience with ASUS phone is bad and will not try again. I also will not buy again in Electroworld store due to this.

The only issue I have with the phone, even though I do not use video recording often, is that video capture is jerky. Whatever resolution chosen, with or without stabilization, video output is jerky.
