Hey people, why can't I use 3rd party File Managers for editing my data on SD Card... It says something about Kitkat update doesn't allow it... But while using the same File Manager on a Moto G2 and Xperia Z1 (both running 4.4.4), it works... Please help...

Virenh83, 12 Nov 2014Dear Tomazz,
This was my query which i had posted yesterday. I think it does not matter which update you go for.
Personally I would download full update. But you could as well download OTA update, then do a full factory reset so it clears any mess left behind by Jelly Bean.
So either way should be OK. Full update or OTA with full reset... Actually - do full reset in any case.

AnonD-317366, 12 Nov 2014Hi,
Yesterday I saw 2.20.40.9(WW) in the Asus website whic... moreAsus does 1 week beta test, then releases the thing, then find out it's full of crap and pull it again.
The original plan is 1 week internal beta, 2 weeks for external test, before release. But I think they are under pressure to release quickly, which leads to these kind of situations...

Sneha, 12 Nov 2014I too have the same querries as that of nik 17. which aps ... moreokay. i would answer your questions one by one:
1- you can stop any service but remember not to stop any system service. also you can disable google play services but only two services have biggest battery drain which are contacts sync and location manager so disable those first.
2- you can go for that update, basically any update you get via ota is legit and safe so go for it.
3-and about the network, make sure you are weather connected to 2g or 3g, its possible when you put your phone ideal, it got connected to 3g so became fast, but hey congrats you solved your problem

I finally got the notification (initially) the 1.18.40.10 update, which I knew beforehand to be the "pre-kitkat" update. I initially resisted, but went ahead and updated, knowing a kitkat update would follow. True enough, the 2.20.40.13 update notification soon followed, and I went ahead and updated to that as well.
The only problem I encountered was that the google keyboard disappeared, and the asus keyboard was greyed out/inaccessible, so I had to find an .apk file for google keyboard, and manually installed it. Soon enough, that fixed the keyboard problem. Besides that, I didn't encounter any other problem, so I didn't do a factory reset and wipe cache anymore. So far so good, the phone is (still) working great.

I too have the same querries as that of nik 17. which aps are to be stopped?
Also awaiting Tomazz n amitkk's response (since both have a good idea abt this phone) on whether i should go for the '.10' update OTA or not..
The phone looked nice and i have an asus laptop which works fine, so went for this phone... Should have done some research first :( I'm not into computers and softwares... its very difficult for me to understand the technical part..
Anyways, a weird thing happed today. I left the phone idle with mobile data on for about 2 hrs... n my net became fast...i could even establish a connection with the modem... i.e the wifi worked too. wow !
I wish living the phone idle for a few more hours would solve the rest of the problems :P
Anyways, all those who are facing the same prob that i was facing can try my technique ;)
Hope every body's problems get solved quickly..

The only two things that i dont like about this phone are camera and battery ...
But thats fine if the camera is not at its best .. i also accept the fact that battery drains fast cause of the intel atom processor but if theres only a way atleast to conserve battery..
I dont play games often.. i checked and browse internet once in a while.. i still notice the battery drops from 100 fast even without using it.
I tried to stop some services like what i saw on the previous posts but some features or work of some apps will be comprised.. or maybe i just dont know which are the services that can be stopped .. so
If is not to much too ask of u guys .. can u please list down all of the service that we could stop as long as everything will still work properly and that will be highly appreciated.. thanks
Ps. I dont go on rooting yet, since the phone is still under on 7 days replacement period.. hehe..here inthe philippines..
