AnonD-314847, 04 Nov 2014Hey tomazz, I have been using this phone for around 3 mont... moreI'm sorry, Sir. I do not live in India and apart from using roaming there for a Month, I have not had any experience with operators there.

My Zens are above 5mbps all the time, with up to 8-9 mbps over night for downlink and about 3-4 mbps uplink.

      That's H+.

200 kbps isn't even the speed of the EDGE, which can reach 384 kbps, and that's 2G.

But sorry that I can't help with more information, except that phone can do a lot more.

siva, 03 Nov 2014We anable to download apps plz helpHopefully you would be able to download apps, but not able to install it. To install apps, go to "Settings -> Security". Then check the box "Unknown Sources. Allow installation of apps from unknown sources." Now try downloading/installing apps.

After the apps download, just uncheck the above option, to avoid automatic installation of other apps, which are unknown to you.

            Enjoy your apps..

              Hey tomazz,
I have been using this phone for around 3 months, even after using two different but same ISP providers sim.I have been getting only 200kbps on h with so many 3g recharges.
I have asked my ISP providers to look through the issue but no help at all,
they haven't found anything wrong on their side
But I have come across people saying that,The ISP has issues providing internet to this particular device

              Q1)shall I try using alternate ISP'S
              Or
              Q2)go for service

hi guys i just send a mail to asus team about the camera and how laggy it becomes in low light and this was their response..

                Hi Amit,

A video composes of multiple frames, and each frame must get enough light to complete the exposure. The video becomes lagging in dark scenes because the overall frame rate must be slowed down so each frame has enough time to get light in. It’s normal that videos have slower frame rate in dark environment. And in such cases, I’m afraid that stabilizer won’t help because it doesn’t increase input lighting.
As for the camera quality that you feel sometimes it becomes plasticky or oversharpen, we are continuously improving the camera exposure algorithm. However it would also help us a lot in analysis if you could kindly provide such sample photos.

I got this ph abt 3 mnths back, positives: the touch is smooth, grt camera clarity, self cleanup option, ability to hide unwanted apps. Drawbacks: NEVER ENDING updates frm ASUS, PATHETIC speakers, the screen dosent unlock at times, ph hangs when multitasking, not able to download certain filetypes... all in all a gud ph to use but a lot of improvement needed

If you wish, I can share you a link of BETA version of it, but you'd need to install it in a bit unconventional way, and of course you're doing that at your own risk.

Sta-ko, 03 Nov 2014What's the deferense betwin hard reset and factory reset (w... moreFactory reset merely deletes your custom settings and apps, but leaves OS intact.

Hard reset basically overwrites the OS partition with the one from Recovery partition.

So if it's only your apps or settings that are messed up, Factory reset will do. But if your OS has issues because of missed updates, or moving from one OS to another (JB to KitKat) or you want to remove traces of rooting... then hard reset should be done.

AnonD-327166, 03 Nov 2014Respected tommaz I am frm India using airtel connection a... moreI assume that your firmware of the phone is 1.14 or 1.15 JellyBean.

You can see it by tapping Settings, then at the very end About, and again at the very end Software Information - There is Build number.

It says ASUS_TOOJ_WW_user_ then there is version number and release date

Now if it is lower than 1.18.40.9, please go to this link and download the zipped file:

                              http://www.mega-networks.asia/ZenFone/ZenFone5_WW_Firmware/UL_ASUS_T00F_WW_1_18_40_9.zip

This is FULL 1.18.40.9, last JellyBean firmware (like operating system, like Windows), that includes all the previous JellyBean patches.

Once you have downloaded it, extract the file, and there's another zip file inside, that has name like the build number... ASUS_TOOJ_WW_user...

Now open Settings on your phone, and tap on Storage. In the top right corner there is USB logo. Tap on it. Make sure to have MTP ticked, and not Camera.

Now plug in USB cable into the phone, then your computer and wait for the device to show inside Computer (or My Computer if you're using Windows XP). If you are using a Mac, Google for and download "Android file transfer". It is a free app.

Once phone shows, double click on it, and you should see a drive inside, named "Internal Storage". Double click on it again and it will open it up, and there will be some files and folders.

Now copy the file you unzipped before (the one with ASUS_TOOJ_WW_user_1.18.40.9.... in the name) into this window on the phone (make sure to drop it here, not into any of the subfolders) and wait for copying to complete.

Once it's done, wait for 10 seconds, then unplug the USB cable.

Shortly after you should see a notification (a triangle and an exclamation mark in it) on the top, in notification line. Pull top of the screen down and tap on System Update is available, make sure that it's 1.18.40.9 (it will display that when you tap on it) and choose to Install it.

The phone will reboot, there will be the Android robot shown, then it will reboot again.

Once you're done with that, go to Settings, and locate Backup & reset. In it enable Back up my data, and tap on Backup account, then enter your Gmail email address and password.

Wait maybe 10 minutes (to be safe), while you should see for a while the data arrows next to your wifi or H+ connection blinking. It when it stops for a while, then it should be done.

Now check a few posts down how to do a full reset, or you could as well do a full reset from the Settings menu - inside the Backup & Reset the last option is Factory data reset: but note - this one only wipes your data and apps. While the one in Recovery boot menu overwrites whole partition, and is of course better.

Since you loaded full firmware, any of them should do.

Now boot it up again, and set up the phone again with your GMail account, and set to Automatically restore from backup (that is in the same menu in Settings again).

Now test your phone if it is working properly.

Last, but not least: The steps above are only for WW version, not for any CN/TW/CHT versions. For those, you can download the firmware from the Asus support site.

The firmware update to this version will only work in steps described above if you have not performed any OTA update since you got the phone. If you have, please let us know what version you currently have, so we can help further.

Mikkan has provided some excellent steps on how to upgrade to KitKat by partition wipe and make it stable. All files he's referring to (except the beta files, which I don't want to post since they have not been properly tested - as such 2.20 firmware updates are not on my site) are available in the same folder that I posted above. Simply remove the file name at the end and you'll see them all.

Unless marked FOTA or UPDATE, they are all full firmware files, as you can see from file sizes.

All versions from 1.14 to 2.19 are posted.

Hope it works for you. If not, you have 2 more days to contact Flipkart and have it returned.

                              Good luck.

Guys, I have been using zenfone 5 for 3 weeks, the experience is too bad. The battery sucks. I charge 100% and the battery foes down within 10 to 15 hrs, even without using it for call/games. Pathetic. I am repenting paying 13K for this. Please stay away from this phone if want value from your money.
