First downloaded verion 1.18.40.10 then again checked for update and i got kitkat which is 442mb file. Now downloading.....

Asus has announced on Twitter that the Android 4.4 KitKat update has started rolling out for the Asus ZenFone 4. It's a bit late now to do this but better late than never.Meanwhile, those who bought the bigger and more expensive ZenFone 5 and ZenFone 6 are understandably miffed as their phones are still running Jelly Bean. Asus hasn't commented on when these phones will be getting the KitKat update. So it means kitkat for Z5 is not yet released?

ZenFone supports all the standard micro-SIM cards (NOT trimmed from mini-SIM, which could have contacts touching the sides of the card).
All of my SIMs are less than a year old, as I move them from one phone to another a lot so I scratch them and ask operators to replace them.
They are of all Thai operators - TrueMove-H, DTAC, AIS, iMobile 3GX (TOT). All work flawlessly in ZenFone, even though for example Sharp Aquos does not like the 3GX card, and Note 3 isn't happy with the DTAC one.
But all of my friends who had a problem with the SIM card like that would take the phone to operator's shop and get a new SIM card, which fixed the issue in every case. Normally the issue was using a very old SIM.
Therefore hard to say what's wrong in your case, but taking the phone down to the operator's shop and try another SIM might help.
Obviously there's always a possibility that there's something wrong with the phone, but eliminating SIM as a possibility first is far cheaper than swapping phones...

The fixes and improvements are only those that Asus has done.
Any Intel optimisations are done by Google, not Asus.
So when it says that it's KitKat update, it comes with all the good and the bad parts that KitKat brings.
Asus can't take any credit for any of those.

In my non-scientific test, trying to use only CPU, it's about 15% advantage towards KitKat vs. JellyBean. Not quite sure what to say about "normal" usage patterns and how that would look like.

naga, 01 Oct 2014I have bought zenfone 5, 2 months ago... It gets shut down ... moreGet full new update installed (KitKat is conveniently coming any moment now), then do a full factory reset.
Do check what apps you have installed, as this restarting issue can come from 3 sources:
- overheating CPU
- badly written apps, causing system crashes
- system lacking some of the updates

Now note this is basically on idle, no screen used, only CPU basically running.
