waiting for the full review of this unit.. hoping for a better battery life.. it's been a while that asus has a sensible high end unit in terms of price.. zenfone 2 is great then zenfone 3 went too high and zenfone 4 become a unicorn i mean you can read about it but you can't see the physical unit of the phone.. 5z has the potential in pricing hopefully it doesn't overheat and power hungry..

but in normal usage,and because of it's efficient cores(quad 1.7GHz) the phone never gets warm even when watching videos in 1080p.

Also Asus included a wide angle lens instead of a telephoto, which is offered by none of the flagships, barring LG.

Hi Everyone,
Since GSMArena has yet to post a review about this phone, I will post a short summary now that i have been using it for over a week. My partner got the Oneplus 6 and I got the Asus Zenfone 5Z. The benefits I see the Oneplus 6 over the Zenfone 5Z is the water proofing and slightly faster OS (we're talking milliseconds of delay, so barely worth mentioning).
Camera: The camera on the Oneplus 6 is slightly clearer and with less noise in good light but the camera interface and multitude of additional software options on the Zenfone give it an edge when it comes to editing the photos or fixing it in post. The AI camera apparently notices the changes you make and which photos you keep and eventually start to make those changes for you without any input which is nice. I give the video quality to the Zenfone because of the wide angle camera and OIS/EIS which keeps shots nice and clear.
Battery: Exactly the same, literally the same 3300mAh battery in both phones, maybe 2-4%~ difference over the course of a day but nothing worth writing home about.
UI/Launcher: Asus ZenUI 5.0 is very very slick and compared to previous ZenUI it's night and day. I've always used the Asus file manager even in other phones because of how easy to use it is and that does not change here. OxygenOS is also incredibly fast and OP has stated that it will be just as fast 1 year down the line but we'll have to wait and see.
Build quality: I gotta say the Oneplus feels nicer in the hand. I can't put my finger on it but it just feels nicer to hold. It's probably the weight of it since it is a bit heavier than the Zenfone.
Audio: not even a contest. OP6 has a single downfiring speaker of questionable quality and Zenfone wins with the dual speakers and significantly better audio quality via headphones thanks to it having DTS:X and also an onboard Audio equalizer
Overall: Do a little research and choose whatever phone you like and stop getting angry at each other on internet forums. I chose the Zenfone because audio quality and camera quality are very important to me and I don't care about waterproofing because I've never once dropped any phone I own directly into water, nor do I want to go swimming with my phone.

Camera quality is very good thanks to its AI (Artificial Intelligence) camera.
Dedicated lens for wide angle photography.
Manual mode and auto modes. Automatically detects environment and gives you best shot.
With f/1.8 aperture it gives good low light photography
It has both OIS and EIS (optical and electronic image stabilisation)

2. AI camera: identifies environment and gives you best shot, apart from that due tonits f/1.8 aperture gives good low light photography. There is a dedicated wide angle lens to take wide angle pics.
3. AI ringtone: Checks your surroundings and rings accordingly (loud or mild)
4. AI app: Monitors your app usage pattern and suggest to open app
5. Micro SD card support with hybrid slim slot
6. It has 3.5 mm headphone port....a big thumps up to ASUS. It also provides in ear good quality headphones with it
7. Zen UI is fast....very good RAM management
8. Android 8.0 out of the box, it will provide android p update
9. Dual speakers provide excellent sound quality
10. 3 microphones provide very good noise cancellation and good call quality
11. Fast fingerprint sensor and face unlock
13. Dual 4g volte support, you can use 2 jio sims at a time

If we compare it with one plus 6 in camera department asus is way behind op6 but pricing wise it is king in India . We'll wait for mi8 launch to see its pricing too it has more features than op6 and asus 5z with pricing almost same asus 5z i think so .
And also lack of amoled in 5z is one factor but i think it is covered by good quality ips display.
The lack of good quality camera is stoping me from buying this beast . Lets wait for mi8 launch this month then the real battle will start .
