I am very disappointed with my ASUS ZenPad. Everytime I use the video recording and tries to zoom it, it hangs and restarts. I took it back to the store where I bought it. They refused to changed the unit. And when I tried the video recording of other units of the same model. Same thing happens. Hmmm, DId the Asus checked their product before they released it to the market?

Go to settings, a bout, version info. If your version is not from Sep. 2015,then you must issue another system update, until your version is from Sep. 2015. System update takes aound 15 min, including system restart and bootstap. Be patient.

A few words about power button. Please note that there is no problem with the power button in the ZenPad z170cg. Some users are not familiar with the default behaviour of the power button in android lollipop 5.0.2. In order to power on the device you need to use a long press on the power button, and 3 second, until you feel a vibrate. Then let go and the device will bootstrap. In order to force shutdown of the device use a long press of over 12 seconds. In some cases if the device screen is black due to buggy applications (such as clash of clan which is buggy over lollipop), you need to first long press over 12 seconds, then let go, the long press for 3 seconds until you feel a vibrate. Try it.

Thanks to this great tool your device will keep it's battery full while in standby. You can keep over 90% battery for many hours, if the phone pad is not in use. Instead it would be better to get all latest FOTA updates from ASUS. With latest FOTA update, your device user experience will greatly improve.

Try disabling the built in ASUS power saver app. That solved a lot of crashes no boots for me.
Now the tablet only shuts down when I leave it charged overnight.

One of tablet with great specs at a reasonable cost. That was main reason I bought theAsus 370CG. But totally disappointed. It hang & crash after one day. Then sent it to service center that updated the firmware. But again after one day same thing happened. Hang/crashed and drain the battery so FAST...but would not accept charging. Had to return it to the store, but didn't accept replacement for another unit, instead got an Acer A1 724. Then they revealed that it is the 3rd unit returned with basically same problem. They can't tell if it is the Hardware or Lollipop. I hope Asus is careful before brining in product into the market.Totally disappointed, as I am believer of their laptops. I hope they emply same quality work w/ their cellphone & tablet lines. BTW, very satisfied w/ Acer. I am not connected with any of the 2 companies mentioned.

In case you are trying to run the game clash of clans by SuperCell, or Boom Beach from the same game company, then please note that this game is buggy over android 5.0.2 , lollipop. For more info you can search in SuperCell forums. The game crashes over all sort of devices which are running lollipop. It worked well over KitKat though.

nickname, 27 Aug 2015Do it have usb on-the-go support? What else you can do with USB on this device? USB thethering is supported here. Which means that you can make zenpad a hotspot over USB to 3G thethering. And then use your PC to connect to the internet via zenpad. Same works just ad well over WIFi when you configure zenpad 7.0 ad a WiFi hotspot.

nickname, 27 Aug 2015Do it have usb on-the-go support?About USB on the go. Thus device does not support it. I think that only zenpad S 8.0, does support USB host (also known as usb on the go). Zenoad 7.0 can only be a USB slave device, meaning that you can browse files on it as mass storage. Copy files to it and from it via your PC/Mac/chrome etc...

On the cheaper camera model here is my opinion. Everything is same spec but the camera. There is the 80/20 rule in phone pads. There is the 80% use cases which most hard working people are looking in a phone pad. And then, there is the 20% fluff features that almost none of us are using. With this device I got the 80% use cases works flawlessly, such as Bluetooth headphones on the gofor stereo. Bluetooth headset for voice calls. Gps for turn by turn navigation. Both 3G and WiFi connectivity. Getting the 80% use full features and paying fraction of what I would pay for higher models with the extra 20% fluf features which I do not really need.

On my cheaper device Asus zenpad c 7.0. I just ran a video recording using the 2MP rear camera. Also zoomed in while recording. The device worked great. No freeze. No restart. I also want to add that for the last 3 weeks since I bought it, there was not a single case of freeze or restart. Works great. Also for a few of my riends who has this device. There ere two auto updates in august 11 2015,and the august 15 2015. Before and after the updates the device worked great. And it is still working great. As soon as the higher resolution camera module is available in my country I plan to buy this model as well.

My current device is the cheaper zenpad c 7.0 and it works flawlessly for me. My user experience is excellent for the last 3 weeks (please read my feedback on zenpad c 7.0). I am waiting for the zenpad 7.0 to be globally available also in my country since I want to buy it for another family member who needs the 8M pixel rear camera.

I bought it 4 days ago, there's always this lagging issues every time I view apps preview in google apps store. The sounds is well ahead of the video. Loading apps is not that fast compared to my old 2012 nexus 7. Most of the times it hangs at a certain point especially if new apps are installed. Asus should provide updates to fix this issues otherwise it would not live up to its expectations considering its specs.
