The Black Shark 5 series is going on a world tour – the vanilla model and the Pro will be available through several online stores by tomorrow. The middle model, the RS, is not part of this launch.

The Black Shark 5 Pro and the vanilla model are quite similar. Both have 144Hz 6.67” AMOLED displays (FHD+, Samsung E4) with 720Hz touch sampling rate and magnetic pop-up triggers, both have stereo speakers.

The two use the same batteries with 4,650mAh capacity and 120W fast charging (0-100% in 15 minutes or in 24 minutes in the battery-sparing mode). The batteries are rated at 1,200 charge cycles and support battery bypass (i.e. using external power while gaming).

Both have Snapdragon chipsets too. The difference is that the Pro uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, plus faster RAM (6,400MHz vs. 5,500MHz). The vanilla Black Shark 5 uses the Snapdragon 870 instead. Both phones are launching with JoyUI 13 (based on Android 12).

16/256GB - $1,000 €1,000 £810

One more bit of difference between the phones, which we left for last since it doesn’t impact gaming – the cameras. The Pro has a 108MP main camera (1/1.52” sensor, 0.7µm), while the vanilla gets a 64MP sensor (0.7µm). The Pro also has a better macro camera, 5MP tele-macro vs. 2MP with regular optics.

Along with the phones, the Black Shark JoyBuds Pro are going global as well. These TWS buds have a low-latency gaming mode (40ms), 30 hours of total playback (fast charging too, 15 minutes charging = 3 hours of playback) and IPX4 water resistance.

These are based on the Snapdragon Sound platform and support aptX Adaptive for high quality audio. They have 12mm drivers and adaptive ANC (40dB noise reduction) that features modes like wind reduction. The JoyBuds Pro will retail for $80/€80.
