I got this phone free from my work, and I have to say its absolutely awesome! By far the best Blackberry ever released, much better than that piece of s**t Storm2.

I have got my self a BBB9700 a few days back.
I was quite enjoying with E90 I had.
I keep adding information about my clients & friends, in E90 it took a very less time, but in BB it take some time as E90.
my calander had the option to let me know a few days in advance I'm unable to set it up in my BB.
      kindly advice.

I just need to figure out if the costs is worth it. As simply using net is cheaper without BIS on other cells.

Hopefully I can make it sense to me :)

All, I have just bought this BB B9700 1 week a go and I have a problem with connecting BES. The BIS is working fine. However, every time I am trying to register my BB with BES, I always got a message that the connection error no respond from the server.
Any body, have the same experience? Any help, please.
            Thanks.

I am a new BB user/lover. I have a BB Bold 9700 as my first and so far it's been excellent and enjoying it much. But I do have some minor problems and have encountered glitches. The bezel creaks a little at the q, a and p buttons. The plastic under the space bar where the carrier's name is written is somewhat loose and can be pressed down. The space bar is too soft that when i press it, it's as if it isn't there at all. Now here are the software problems I have encountered. While I was transferring an image via bluetooth from my Nokia E72 to my Bold, the latter restarted for reasons I don't know. But that happened only once. Then I have experienced 2 dropped calls and a "no circuit/channel available" appeared on the screen. But this one could be network-related. Then the latest is an error message "initialization failed" and "insert sim card." At first I turned my phone off then on but didn't work. So I had to pull my battery and therafter, the phone went back to normal. I am concerned about the third problem. I don't know why it occured. My sim card is new and have been using it in my previous phone (iPhone 3gs) for 7 months and I never experienced anything like that. Any BlackBerry genius who can enlighten us?

Anonymous, 20 May 2010Thank you JRF for your reply. I am still having hard time... moreWell, wifi is used for lots of different things. On a cellphone, it's mainly for internet. If you have BIS, for wifi can be used to make downloads faster, internet connections faster and making calls with the UMA services provided by some carriers, or others support Skype. A Blackberry will need BIS to use push email, social networking and IM apps, and even for BBM. Wifi makes it so emails are sent faster, chats are a bit faster, and internet is faster. But this is because the phone uses wifi as a "power booster". Without BIS, wifi can only let you use the internet and certain apps that run on wifi, but you won't get push notifications or won't be able to use apps that rely on BIS like BBM, FB and Twitter.

I am still having hard time to understand the technology behind it. If I am using a pure WiFi of any hot-spot any where Globally or local and I am disconnecting the provider or any local network but just keeping the WiFi enabled how could the BB device/mobile be connected to a communication network, unless this is automatically rely on a BB RIM service (dedicated server) that works same as the BB messenger (if I understand that correctly).

I prefer going to my local carrier and buying it. Or looking for them unlocked in person. That way I can check it before purchasing and know exactly what I'm getting. I think if that site was linked to from this site, then it should be ok.
