I use Blackberry 9930 but i am not able to access the Blackberry service on my phone. My networks are MTN and Vodafone in Ghana. My friends using BB on the same networks here are all able to have the BB service. The networks tell me they have done the positioning and i should be able to access the Blackberry service but i am unable to do so and the "edge" still appears in small letters. What can i do to access the Blackberry service. I need help urgently.

This is my second Blackberry and I'm loving it(first was the 9300). The only complaint is it does freezes and laggy at times even with the fater processor. Also, like any other phones... front camera for "facetime" or whatever. Other than those, it is awesome and it gets the job done. Don't care much about it doesn't have apps this and that. Who cares!! the only app most kids dl anyways are games. If you want to play games and watch videos get a android or apple or the new windows phones. If you want business... blackberry or the new windows phones (maybe..)

The battery is the main reason i didnt buy this one. Used to be a loyal user but now it seems bigger screen with Galaxy Note is much better experience.

Unless RIM does something with this, the green robot is gonna crush it pretty bad.
Conclusion : dependable battery and bigger screen are required by most mobile biz-men.

I have been a blackberry user for over 5 years until I got the blackberry bold 9900. It was all good for a few Weeks because I was digging the 4G network but there were some things about this phone that I couldn't get over, one the battery… nothing like the curves and the passed bold. This bolds battery drains pretty fast if you don't watch your browsing and app usage, and to top it when the phone started heating up the battery would be dead in no time. I would have to take the battery out and restart the phone because the phone wouldn't stop burning. Another issue I also used to have is when the phone would freeze while browsing, texting, and worst when picking up a phone call it would freeze and the call would be loading for a long time and I wouldn't be able to answer the call it was terrible. And the thing that ticked me of the most was when I would browse. I would browse and while the page loaded it would shut off all the windows that I had open which were around 3 or 4 windows would shut of completely like the phone couldn't handle the downloading and when it would shut down the phone would offer to reload the pages and I would accept to reload but when it did it shut off the blackberry completely!! This would happen almost every day and believe me it would make my day very difficult and frustrating. I did warranty exchange more than 4 times until I finally gave up on this phone. I paid $600 for this phone and believe me I tried to enjoy this phone but I couldn't ignore the effects that came with this handset. I read how people tell you how to save more battery power and all the tips they give to make you're phone last but seriously if you pay over $500 for a phone that holds a great reputation on battery power just to let you down with a phone that heats up and dies that's just not good enough for peoples money and especially their time and the phone takes forever for it to load its ridiculously pathetic! I just don't understand how blackberry settled for less quality and a lot of people love the design as much as I do but whats the point if the quality is lower? There's a reason why blackberry is losing its customers and interest from consumers and its because of phones like the blackberry 9900. We are talking free falling and RIM knows this. I now moved to an Android and its been good to me even though battery isn't as good as the passed blackberries I've owned but the 9900. I really am happy with my phone the GS2 its fast, dependable, a great multitasker, and the Android market well its Alot better than the BB app world no qs about it. I hope blackberry comes back to compete because the world and the people are moving fast without them.

I got the blackberry bold 9900 few days ago from vodafone south africa.
Solid phone, slim, light weight, no lag in response, screen resolution is crisp and sharp.

                                The features are plentiful.

But it has a single flaw, this model will not give you the advertised battery life! I took the phone back to the vodafone store and there is not much they can do as most clients buying the bold 9900 are complaining of extremely poor battery life. They offer a battery swap only after the phone is handed in for a 7-day technical analysis, and you are given a basic call text mobile phone to use.

My previous blackberry curve 8520 will outperform the 9900 Bold in battery performance.

Occassionaly, the phone heats up and the battery drains to empty in under an hour of light usage!

What a pity, what an incredible mobile phone this is, yet lacking in endurance!

Abadi, 24 Jan 2012Hello All, What’s the significance features in 7.1 update? Mobile Hotspot: Turn your BlackBerry 7.1 OS device into a Wi-Fi® router anywhere, anytime! The new OS seamlessly provides Internet access for up to five Wi-Fi devices, including laptops and tablets.
Universal Search: For this new release, we wanted to focus on the intelligence of our system and our apps – in other words, we wanted to create an intuitive experience that does the thinking for you. For example, Universal Search now has a new auto-suggest feature that that intelligently filters Bing® search results to offer you a variety of relevant Web sites based on your search terms.

BlackBerry® Tag: Share contacts, media and files, and even invite friends to BlackBerry® Messenger (BBM) through a simple touch. BlackBerry Tag unlocks near field communication (NFC) capabilities for everyday use and makes sharing a lot faster and much more personal.
Wi-Fi® Calling (where available): With BlackBerry 7.1 OS, you’ll be able to make Wi-Fi calls using your carrier’s Wi-Fi calling service (aka UMA-lite or GAN-lite). Wi-Fi calling allows you to save your talk time minutes and make phone calls over any Wi-Fi network. Not all carriers offer such a service so check with your carrier for availability.

FM Radio: The BlackBerry 7.1 OS update will let BlackBerry® Curve™ 9360 and 9380 smartphone customers enjoy FM radio. The Curve models include a built-in FM radio so you can tune in to local FM radio stations. Simply plug in your headset to boost the reception (it acts as the antenna). Plus, no data usage or data plan required!
