rim sacrificed the batt for the design. slimmer design..what the?! it's the performance that mattars rim! 1 month ago, I was one of those who say " wow i love this phone cant wait to have one.." 1 month ago I thought that this phone is amazing in terms of UI, manipulating it but H*ck! am sick of the battery! I realized that it's the performance that matters..the battery matters a lot because how would you enjoy your device no matter how great it is when the battery is very low!!(this is because the data being used ALL THE TIME like NON-STOP because of the feed and the data keeps updating your apps on your phone the whole day even tho youre not using your app.. that keeps the battery draining so much)....well I found my answer to this. I turn my network mode to 3g&2g combine together so the 3g will turn off if you dont use it. 3g will only work if you browse, use facebook, bbm and anything that uses data...so yeah..i think my 9900 is living with me now..the battery wont last that so long.but I guess 13-14 hours of moderate usage is enough.

John, 06 Jan 2012For better battery life: - delete unwanted social feeds -... moreI'm fairly new when it comes to own/use a BB. currently have a Curve 9300 and a Curve 9360. Wanting to get something more hardcore. Was thinking about the 9900 but am a bit weary of it due to extreme short battery life.

This is a fine example of why RIM is going down hill! They designed the new JM1 battery at 1230mah and not bringing out devices what the consumer needs. I had the 9900 and stuck to it for 3 months but enough is enough, Im sick of charging the phone when I get home at night. My previous 9700 last me 2.5 days at moderate to heavy use. I can go for a weekend trip with my 9700 and not worry about the battery. I find the trackpad very poor on the 9900 and its doesnt work as well as the 9780/9790, I no longer can use this phone single hand. If you are looking to buy a new Blackberry buy a 9700/9780 at a bargain or wait for the new BB10 devices.

                hello Peeps,

Just a quick opinion, What is best reccomended. Torch 9810 or the bold 9900? Major core differences is the NFC and the slide functions. I am more concerned about the browsing and the time it takes to search or navigate. Am a curve user now and want to upgrade.
Always know BB's had an issue with battery life. Other than that? an inside of the negatives and positive's of both smartphones from end users as your selves would be much appreciated. Thanks.

                  For better battery life:
                  - delete unwanted social feeds
                  - delete any social network rubbish you dont need
                  - change screen time to 20 secs
                  - turn down the brightness
                  - turn off location enable (most important!)
                  - hardware reboot
You will be surprised how better any BB will perform.

AnonD-36317, 31 Dec 2011I really like to have this phone but a lot of comments says... moreI love my bb9900, i have had no problems with it at all, heavy user, battery never dies, i had the previous bold too and this one is a huge improvement, it's really a shame that everyone bashes it so bad. I can only chalk it up to not know ing how to use it. In the beginning i bought an extra battery just to be safe. I never use it. I would definately by BB again! The 9900 rocks for my email, surfing, business, it is all there! the only thing i miss is themes, but hell they were just for silly fun anyway. Buy it it's worth it!

I kept the 9900 for about a month and then had enough. I went from the 9780 to 9900 and found the touch screen Bold needs work. Navigating in the browser was a chore merely getting to the page you need. I had to touch the google bar 20 times before the cursor would just stay put so I could type my criteria, then to hit the search key was also a chore. Then when the list of website options came up and I'd select one, it would sometimes take me to an unknown page. If you do manage to land on the desired web page, good luck scrolling through it with the touch screen. Sometimes the page would scroll uncontrollably and you have very little control! VERY FRUSTRATING.

Also, I found if I was walking and scrolling through a page i.e. email, icons menu or web .. it would also scroll uncontrollably (especially if I was outside waslking and it was windy or sunny!) WEATHER was a factor! If you are in a rush and wanting to activate your desired icon while walking.. it sometimes goes wild!

I adjusted screen and track pad sensitivity umpteen times and that doesn't do anything! Its either too sensitive or not sensitive enough and the "phantom scrolling" issue was a very weird weird problem! I even thought something may be wrong with my particular device so I used my brother in laws under similar conditions and same crap.. he hates it too! Good concept but needs work! Its a guinea pig!
