you guys dont seem to understand... BBs are targeted towards businesses... not regular average joe... the BB is for the exec person and managers therefore, most if not all companys dont allow cameras for copyright and forgery(sp?) reasons... get over yourselfs and accept that the BB if for the business person not someone that wants it all in a phone.
the BB has the most stable OS out there. i have owned both symbian and windows os phones/pdas and all they do is crash, freeze or something... i now have a BB and have never once had to restart or pull the battery because of a freeze or restart...
like i said if you want a phone with a mp3 player or/and camera go elsewhere, these PDAs/phones are for the businesses! get used to it...

Blackberry is going to keep wifi off of their phones as long as people are dumb enough to pay for the data packages that are offered with Cell Phone providers like Cingular (now ATT). They put a 2 megapixel because that's what they can get away with now....1.3 and it would have been a joke. In a year, every mid-priced phone will have 3.2 and high end phones will have 4 and 5 megapixels. Blackberries will put wifi once people stop buying them because they don't have wifi....plain and simple.

The reason we need wifi in the blackberry is simply because we live in asia, where companies are very cheaply give away their employee wifi access (well at least my company). If have to choose, I my self prefer wifi than 3g cause what else? cheaper (payless) communication through wifi. But I don't you guys who live in US or Europe. Glad to be asian ;)

can some1 explain this to me? why do you guys want wifi on a berry? the internet isnt that slow and with the push email how would wifi be any different unless you live at starbucks. i mean i clock this phones internet against blackjacks and other 3g windows mobile phones and sites load up pretty evenly. 3g would be cool but to this day wifi makes no sense to me on this device. on the other hand, id kill for a 16 million color nokia screen on this and a 5mp camera with sony software bc the camera on the pearl made me happier using a vga camera. anyway, id get this phone bc berry is the most reliable ever. nokia in close second. they email and do it well. i guess will work out in time

Switch to Windows Mobile? You must be kidding...I'd rather use an old Sharp Wizard from 1992.

I have been using the 8700 for a while now and in between have purchased the sgh-i600, the HTC Mteor, T-Mobile Dash, The Nokia E61 and a hell of a lot more, I still land up going back to my BBerry. Why? simple...its still the best messaging system out there and without a doubt an incredible handheld. I travel extensively and would have loved a BBerry with a intergrated camera and voila - its here finally. No need for me to now carry a second mobile device so i can take pictures (I am in the fashion business) and email my office on the move. The 2mb is sufficient in the curve but would have prefered a 3.2 but it will come. The issue of wifi (the lack thereof) is no major issue as the gprs/edge is sufficient and with the data packages offered by T-Mobile I do not mind the extra few seconds transmitting via gprs/edge as against 3g or even hsdpa. the ultimate phone does not exist and the more performance and option you get, it comes with a price and that's battery performance or the lack thereof. So for now i will wait patiently for the day that someone out there sorts the power issue out. the day will come...and in my lifetime! hopefully.

Looks like a classy bit of kit
Wifi and 3g are battery hogs and aren't necessary for what this phone is about.

Was playing with one of thesee yesterday (honestly). Seems like more silly hybridising. That problem someone else had with not being allowed to use a cameraphone at work seems like it could be fairly widespread, and i reckon some connectivity would be more useful in a blackberry than a camera. Still, the nice sales rep guy promised me that they'd have a WiFi model "soon". Guess we'll just have to wait and see...
