Rheinhardt, 05 Oct 2008Great design, but very flimsy cover. The device will start ... moreRheinhard, I don't know what you're talking about. I've got the 8320 and it's got Wi-Fi AND shows either GPRS or EDGE near the antenna icon (depending on where I stand).
Anyway, I keep Wi-Fi shut down because I've got an unlimited data plan and all the Wi-Fi does from my view is drain the battery.
Then again, I'm using Telefonica in El Salvador... maybe your carrier has disabled GPRS?
I also find the new 4.5 Operating System slower. I don't know if it's the new OS, the new theme or both, but I feel my Curve got slower and locks-up/crashes a lot. Especially when I'm using both Opera Browser, BB Browser and e-mail simmultaneously for some time.
Does anybody know where one can set the browsers to "dump" cache after n MB have been filled?

Great design, but very flimsy cover. The device will start falling apart after the first 4 months.
Unable to send address book contacts via sms. Unable to receive vcards....
After next firmware upgrade device is now very slow.
I had a BB 7series prior to this and it performed allot better. I recommend waiting for the Bold and checking.
One more thing! The 8320 does not have GPRS but WIFI. The 8310 has GPRS but no WIFI. Also MTN, CellC have not GPRS receivers.....

I am puzzled. This phone has some sophisticated features but then misses simpler ones.
I realised that if one becomes proficient at speed typing, entire lecture notes can be rendered on the phone. The problem is printing the notes or Bluetoothing them to another phone. There is no option for this. Try writing notes in the MemoPad of the BB. These is no option for printing them.

It is an excellent phone with exclusive features. It gives you a feel of its being a special product of a dedicated company with a personal touch. Connectivity is superb, but before buying make sure what you want: GPS or wifi or both; Curve 8310 has GPS but no wifi while this one has WiFi and no GPS; some models have both. The camera is so unreal that you won't believe its 2MP; pictures bear excellent color and contrast: true color. It is light weight; excellent buy!
