Why pay for BIS with Blackberry, if you get Secure Push Gmail on Android FOR FREE ?

after using e72 i came 2 know abt the smoothness of blacberry's trackpad..e72 's trackpad is not as good as bb one..although even not comparable also..we should only compromise wid 3g in curve 8520..nd e71 is in no race with bb smartphones..so i advice all guys 2 go through bb..after all its bb..nthing to say...den depends..nd 1 thing also bb's os is userfriendly nd dat of symbanian huuu...quite tough...den depends...

As a phone usar for the past 11 years, I've come to expect a lot from devices. While I know there are phones with tons of features, I prefer having phones that really work. Windows Mobile 6.5 and below has been my least favorite. A simple task, such as setting a wallpaper, can take over 5 seconds, which is a lot when you want to show it off. I haven't tried Windows Phone 7 so u won't comment on that. My previous favorite brand was Nokia. I loved Nokia phones. So many features packed into relatively small packages. Just one problem: Symbian. Yes, you get a lot of features but Symbian isn't capable of handling everything. My n95 and n85 both had issues. My worst phone was the n85. Like you said, you can install apps onto the memory card. But, what's the point when some apps easily become corrupted and mess up your memory card. Sure you can reformat it, but sometimes you can lose so much. I use my phone for snapshots of moments that mean a lot and Symbian deleted 87 pictures before I could do a backup. Once I even did a backup and it wasn't usable. Now, BlackBerry. Yes, I hate not being able to install a lot of apps, but seriously, if I want apps it won't be with Symbian or Windows. Apple and Android are the best for apps. BlackBerry phones are messaging devices. Chat, social networking, emails, all that with RIM's push service, are great on my Storm. Nokia Messaging isn't stable enough or fast enough to push email through but my BlackBerry is. The only issue I see with emails is "truncated due to size", but a BIS update is said to fix that. I haven't paid for my Docs To Go update and I can still edit/create new docs for work and the email client let's you read PDFs. You can't read PDFs unless you receive them via email or update. No, I'm not a "boring business man" or "too lazy to say hi to my neighbor in person". I am a 23 year old guy that helps run the family business and has Facebook and WLM as well as BBM contacts that I keep in touch with every day. My BlackBerry only fails me when my carrier's network fails and that rarely happens. I do, however, really really hate having limited space for apps, but I do have and iTouch for that.

I wanted a business phone and a non-touch screen phone that can do just about everything today mobile phones have to offer so I had to sit and choose a few brands before I could decide which phone to purchase, i've been using a Nokia E61i for a while and just 2yrs back sold it 2get my self a Windows Mobile phone. Having stepped into the business arena I had to keep two different #'s one for my personal use so I could touch base with all my friends and one purely for business and that was the time I heard so much about Black Berry phones and how good Black Berry messenger service is, and how easy it was getting in touch with people by using the BBM service. So after scouting around for a few days on all mobile phone websites like phone arena and gsmarena I was happy to read good reviews about the phone.
So, I decided to go get myself a BB8520 and I did, first day I was all excited about having a new phones tweeted my way to glory on twitter about how great the phone was and blah blah..... and then got the BIS service activated and started using the BBM (Black Berry Messenger service) made all the best comments possible tried every trick possible I could learn about using the BB 8520. 3 weeks since I purchased the phone and I am already disappointed with the phone and the gadgets RIM (Research in Motion) has to offer. Let me give you a little insights of the phone before that I'll compare my existing Window Mobile phone the Samsung i780 and my earlier phone the Nokia e61i before I give you a 360 degrees review of the BB8520.
Having said that I am a existing windows mobile phone, many ppl in the past or still crib how lame Window Mobile phone is whether it be its boring UI (user interface) or the availability of 3rd party application when compared to any Nokia, thanks to OVI store. While my use with both the Samsung i780 and my then e61i I found using both these phone for both business and personal use was so hassle free. From adding new applications to playing that latest soundtrack to watching movies on them, that's just not it both the phones offer something BB fails to offer that is storing applications onto your memory card so that you don't deplete your on-board memory that could later give trouble of multi-tasking or even checking a website from ur phone. Though I must acknowledge that the Nokia e61i had trouble accessing large website as it had only a 64mb RAM.
Now coming back to RIM's products and all the Black Berry phones, something you need to deal with after you purchase it. Except for a few models like the BB Bold, BB Torch or BB Tour the remaining BB phones do not come with document editors or PDF viewer forget the fact even if yo do get one on your BB its a 14-day trial software and you'd have to buy the Document viewer or editor copy for $30 to $50, pdf viewer out of the question, need to search that before you buy it.
Second of the issues I've found in a BB phone is email support a few prominent mail services like AOL, gmail, hotmail, live and yahoo other email services isn't supported by the phone you gotta get it done manually and eventually it may not support it and gives you an error.
Third issues is the phone unlike other business phones like Nokia, Samsung and LG cannot house applications on the memory card except for the exe.file the only thing you can be stored on your BB memory card is pics, songs, video and documents. There's no option of loading an application on ur memory card like most of you see your friends do on their Nokia's. How does that concern you? Ok here you go, its quite simple. The advantage of storing an application on your MMC or memory card is that you don't deplete the on-board memory which is used to help your phone multi-task between applications while your using the phone. Every phone comes with a ROM and RAM the RAM is the most important part of your mobile keeping your RAM free can help you move around different application simultaneously without your phone freezing cuz of insufficient memory. By storing an application on your expandable memory card of your phone and only having a exe file on your phone memory saves upto 70% of the RAM's space making it easier to multi-task.
And this is something that you see across all BB devices built till date even the new BB Curve 3G and the BB Bold 9780. Something you need to deal with I guess. If one looks back at the phones that were made in the last 6 years most of the phones had the features that BB still fails to offer. Today brands like Nokia, Samsung, LG, HTC etc build phones that appeal to both regular consumer as well as business customers but, all of them have made an effort to move up the ladder in terms of the services their phone offers.
For the price that Black Berry charges its customer on their phone is quite exorbitant when you compare what other business phones in its class has to offer in terms of Value Added Services VAS.
Let me come down to the point and explaining for who BB devices are made.
If your a boring business man who wants just check their emails and talk to the colleague who sits right behind them but are too lazy to turn around and say hi and prefers to use Black Berry Messenger service to do this. BB is for your brother!!
Honestly, if your a person who like the phone purely for the fact to just receive emails and replying back and require no use of any of the services like editing documents like word, excel or power point presentations, this phone is for you.
If you feel that your too lazy to walk to your neighbors house once in a while to say Hi! But, would rather use BBM to do this, the phone is for you!
And if your a person who hates to social network or look around for new applications to make your work easy and prefer the cumbersome process of using a BB phone and BBM, its for you!
Though some may say that its false, and their phone have a one of the features like the document editor they probably must have paid close to a fortune to buy this phone and a few extra dollars to show I am wrong buy buying a document editor. On the contrary this phone is for somebody who like to just receive and reply back emails and like their suites they wear everyday morning to work and want to feel like the top executive.
Apart from the few important point it discussed above the phone other wise is fine!
People i'm not cribbing here, but I'm just making a point that for the price you pay RIM for their devices hoping you'd like to use atleast half of the services you get they are other phones which cost you half the price of a BB phone and does more than just what BB claims it does.
So, if you have the money and are looking for a good business phones have a look around before you opt to go for a BB phone. Here's how you identify which phone is best for you with all the options.
1. If you need a phone just to stay in touch with a large amount of friends who are spread all across the globe and you have limited access to that kind of cash to send so many sms' and prefer a one way stay connected to all then, in that case: A Black Berry phone is your best friend use the BIS service and use BBMessenger.
2. If your a person looking for a phone cuz you want to have fun and love to be noticed among all your friends as a person who enjoys new stuff and use only social media as a way to get in touch with everybody opt for these phones: Samsung Galaxy, HTC (Android), Samsung with Windows Mobile 7 and other Android phones and don't forget Nokia Symbian 60 edition phones.
3. If your a pure business kind of a person and your job is to check email revert back hoping to use all the services like document editor, pdf reader, check your personal mails as well on the move like to have some fun as well while your not working. Then the Nokia E-series is the best for you, Any windows mobile phone, or even an Android phone will do. If you choose to go for a BB its a personal choice, but keep in mind what sort of usage you have in mind. Before you realize you've already made a blunder.
Choosing the right form factor is a personal choice if you like a touch screen go for one if your a person who enjoys the keys and hate the fact your fingers have to be used on a screen and can't stand the fact that you get scratches on ur screen the non touch qwerty keypad phones are right for you. If your a person who prefers both touch and qwerty then go for the dual input mode phones.
Hope you guys make the right decisions b4 u buy a business phone! :)

please check the setting 1st if your bluetooth turn on? and if your wi-fi connection also turn on? and if your brightness is 100 percent?..the best setup your brightness to 10 percent only...bluetooth and wi-fi when u needed only.

@Meme try turning off wifi when your not using it. On my iphone had same problem until i turned off wifi.

Waiting for this phone. My post paid plan is finally approved which qualifies me to get this phone for no additional cost. But the proble is, as the telecoms company said, they have an out of stock situation and they're not sure if they would still get more stocks of this one. Sigh for that company! They shouldn't have advertised the promo if they would be having problems with the stocks anyway. They were even saying that it's BlackBerry's fault since they're the ones not delivering.

thru bluetooth, go to media, select among pictures, video, music, etc. click menu scroll down to receive "receive using bluetooth"..u must be connected via bluetooth to a device where the file will be transferred from

I have had my BB for a week now and the battery was charged correctly according to the instructions. However, the battery only seems to last one day! So this means that I have to keep the charger in my bag at all times. Please advise as to what the reason for this could be
