I have recently bought the BB Curve 8520 and will never look back... it is the best phone I have had so far. I was using the Samsung Omnia with the touch screen... what a load of rubbish. Will be staying with BB from now on.

Anyone know how to install 3rd party themes on this phone? I really need to change it. I downloaded stuff from my PC and I can not seem to find or be able to open them.

i got this model today....its a bit antipathic to use. the buttons are a bit too small for me but maybe i foind them antipathic cos i have nail extensions. But the model->the size, design and weight are very nice.

A.D., 19 Nov 2009I believe Bold and the new Bold 2 already have the specs yo... moreYeah, the only phone I'd exchange this for is the Bold 2. No matter the cost, BB is totally worth the money. I know the 8900 and the storm have autofocus cams but from what I've read they aren't that good. Hopefully the Onyx is better. Still, BB will be, from now on, my number one favorite phone company!

I just wish they would have packed more juice into that battery of BB Curve 8520.
4.30 tt is not much. Considering, web/gprs activity which drains da battery faster.
RIM please take care of it next tym.

Also more multimedia means more processing power and more memory space so price rise. Considering the intended utility of the BB I fine it just fine. BB Curve 8530 is the 3G version of BB Curve 8520. Will upgrade to it once 3G is launched with pvt. operators in India...
About Apple, itz just a rich man's toy and they cash on everybit of their brand value...
I believe we should write to RIM about how they could make BB better and defeat any other stupid phones out there...

i have one question in my mind- when we dial some number[ like 9888776543 etc.], does this phone search the contacts containing similar numbers? i know this happens when we type a name and then the contact in question is displayed automatically on the screen from where we can dial it. but does this happen on typing the numbers also???

A.D., 18 Nov 2009I agree with you JRF... I too would love BB to add atleast ... moreThat is so true. But I think soon they should atleast attempt to make a phone with better multimedia functions. They seem to have the business area set. Plus, I don't use it for business purposes. This is my first BB (and one of the best phones I've owned!) And I see this as BB's attempt to grab part of the low/mid income users. This is a great phones with almost the same specs as a higher range BB (minus screen res, video reproduction capabilities)so its a great value for money for people like me who never bought one due to the price. So why can't they take a bite out of the multimedia section? I really hope they do because the perfect phone would need the security,be as stable as BB OS, and have a decent camera. That's why I bought the N85, but man did I regret it. If BB offered something a little more capable of multimedia creation they would never ever lose me as a customer (lol) and would make new ones. Nokia has the right idea but just can't seem to get it right. Others are trying and Apple just might have it. Of coarse I would pick BB over apple because I dont really like touchscreens. So, yeah in conclusion: I think BB wouldn't lose a thing adding a better camera to their phones. Maybe not a 5mpx with xenon, but a 3.2 mpx with a good autofocus and video recording in the already old 30 fps vga res and a dual led flash would make a great Curve/Bold/Storm.

I too would love BB to add atleast 5 Mega-pix cam + Xenon Flash (Like Nokia N82) + 16m colors + state of da art audio & video capabilites and a 650+ Mhz processor but won't that make BB just like any stupid fon out there which focus neither non business / nor on entertainment?
I believe BB has always been focused at business users.
So all this frills r just a mkting gimmick which BB does not do

i just bought this blackberry, i didn't have mut... moreAwesome Dave !! Good to haf u back in the BB camp :)... hope u haf tasted the Symbian junk that Nokia has been loading itz fonz n fooling it fanz with fancy look n feel but zero utility / perfomance...
All said and done this is by far the best 'Value for Money' business fon. n I am happy I am not one of those stupidz in India who have been waiting for almost 8-9 months like Nokia is gonna deliver this baby :D
