Zhkorpyo69, 03 Jun 2009I would like to buy qwerty phone. Is Blackberry Curve 8900 ... moreYes, the phone can access WI-fi without the BIs service, you have to go to wi-fi manually switch it on and then open the browser. Browser not very good though

After only 1 day of usage,I noticed some
        serious flaws:
»Charging pod is very poorly located, very
uncomfortable for right handed people to
        operate while charging
»Video quality very bad but camera ok
»When Using trackball to scroll menus or
phonebook and u reach the bottom it doesn't
Go to the top like after the z entries back
To a. U have to go all the way back up
        »Only 1 alarm clock??
»Why 2 keys for caps wen u simply hold the key
Down and get caps? should rather have 2 alt keys
Or the option to hold a key for alt character
»Phone cannot ring and vibrate simultaneo
usly.First it vibrates then rings after several seconds
»Menu graphics are far too plain and boring
        »I
s voice guided navigation included because
I cannot seem to get it even with bis? Also tried
        Google maps.

If you want to extend your battery lifetime you have to upgrade your Javelin to OS 4.6.1.231 (This is the best BB OS) for the time being. I had OS 4.6.1.114 of Tmobile and my battery duration was 1.5 day (using BB Messenger, etc), now 2.5 or 3 days (Depend use).

                Hey there,

I have previously used a 3G phone (Nokia N95) and I really liked that one. I could use the Wi-Fi technology and also do video calls.

I am seeking some advice from you people out there to help me to choose between the Blackberry 9000 Bold or the 8320 Model. Unfortunately in my country (Mauritius), we do not have the Curve 8900 yet.

                Thanks and Regards,

                DD.

after all the research and tinkering with the phone, I conclude it cannot play youtube or any video in the web, even if you go to mobile youtube, still wont play, I have been to a lot of forum and nobody even blackberry them selves dont know how to make it work. Bad choice for a Phone software, cannot install flash player. looks goog but not complete.

Sloan, 02 Jun 2009I am trying to decide between the BB Curve 8900 or the BB B... morebasically 3G stands for third generation technology, which means that u can make video call etc. So accordingly u can go for Curve 8900.
                      bye

All.. the only main difference between 8900 and 9000 is the 3G thing. Try to compare their spec side by side.
So if you don't need 3G, then definitely you should go with 8900 right away. Cheers.

                            In my opinion:
Phone book Javelin better than E71, smart dial too.
Keypad Bold better than Javelin (quiet as E71).
Speaker phone Bold Stereo, Javelin Mono.
Screen Resolution Javelin better than Bold (480x360) vs (480x320).
Battery lifetime Javelin (no 3G) better than Bold.
Camera Javelin better than Bold (3.2 vs 2 mega pixel)
                            Design Javelin better than Bold

                            So, Javelin better than Bold!

I am trying to decide between the BB Curve 8900 or the BB Bold. I personally like the look of the curve as i am a girl and think it is a little more classy and sleek. But, this whole 2GB vs 3GB is throwing me off. I don't know enough about technology to decide what is better for me. I will be using it mostly for emailing and BBM.
Which one is better for me????
                                Thanks :)

Guys, I need your opinions, I need to buy blackberry but I'm not sure which one should I go for. Bold Or Curve. Because I had Storm, and damn, it was very bad handset.
So, I don't really care about 3G. But I think Bold looks good. although it is old now. and new curve is newest one out so far.

the Curve8900 DOES NOT have 3G data services. It has a more advanced version of EDGE than previous curve model....call this one 2.75G. 3G voice/data by definition must support both features at once....i.e. - talking on the phone at the same time google maps is updating as you drive on the freeway, or sending/receiving EMAIL...not text, that goes on gsm n works for any phone...EMAIL while you're on the phone). One distinct advantage over the blackberry bold (if this matters to you! not everyone needs this!) is that you can use the phone's UMA capabilities to talk over t-mobile hotspot@home type device, or even make skype calls worldwide from your phone over WiFi. The bold9000 only has UMTS/HSDPA which DOES NOT ALLOW VOIP calls at all.

The curve 8900 is a beautiful phone. slim design, 3.2MP autofocus camera, great speaker even for music listening, rubberized trackball, WiFi and smooth OS. Overall it's a perfect phone for newer blackberry users or people who have blackberry just because "someone told them it was good". However, if you really use the phone a lot, it doesn't make sense in today's day and age to sign a 2 year agreement for a phone that's on technology that has been "outdated" by 3.6Mbps 3G for almost a year (on blackberry only, longer with other phones)...and especially with network upgrades coming to faster 3G (7.2Mbps) and by end of next year in United States, you'll start to see LTE (Long Term Evolution) which will most certainly obsolete even the faster 3G, running at speeds up to 60Mbps). for the extra $100 bucks, RIM/AT&T make it a tough choice between the curve 8900 and the Bold....one is not really "better" than the other, it is a matter of tastes and needs.

if you don't think you need to send things fast (think pictures to facebook, flipping through people's myspace pages with all the pics, sounds etc) then you certainly don't need the Bold.

for questions: 20f391a7 (and if u don't know what that is...u don't need the bold lol)
