The Leap is the sexiest BlackBerry ever. It's my daily driver as well. Battery efficiency is superb compared to other BB10 devices. Camera is excellent. Shoots sharp pics on a good day. I went to the park and took some panoramic shots with my Leap. And guess what? People were impressed when they saw the Leap shots compared to their iPhones 6/6s. Their iPhone shots were grainy and washed out. If you know how to use the Leap's camera properly, you can achieve some great photos from it.

Just have my Leap for a week now. I have been using almost all Blackberry devices, just switched from the Classic into the Leap and I must say the bigger screen is it !
The keyboard is also more touch responsive than other brands running on Android.
It's a business phone indeed and I don't need any Android apps, even though they run quite well after testing e.g. "Navigator".
So my opinion : Blackberry well done, but keep the OS10 alive and running and up to date, pls.

vnzmstr, 08 May 2017Blackberry leap, like any other phones out there, is very r... moreI thought so as well, but it's an easy fix.

Just download APK files online and you can install pretty much any android apps out there. For YouTube I downloaded an android app called NewPipe which works better than the native one.

Basically for whatever app you want from Android you can just download in the browser and install onto the phone. It's really beneficial as blackberry blocks most pop ups.

I'd go as far as to say the Leap runs android apps better than budget android phones. Even android games run well.

Blackberry leap, like any other phones out there, is very reliable when it comes to calls and texts... not so much with the apps. Their facebook and youtube apps are sh*t. They literally just takes you to your browser. So what's the point of those apps? Their instagram is called insta10 and I would have to say that it is literally a steaming pile of shite. The blackberry OS are in short supply when it comes to their apps and I do mean short. the newer phones like the blackberry priv, dtek50 and so on, now have android OS. That was the best move they've done and that is because they are cutting off their own BlackBerry OS. I'm an app guy, I use facebook, instagram, youtube, etc om my daily life. BlackBerry OS doesn't even have a decent grabtaxi app. That is why I also have an android phone for my app needs. Seriously, don't buy this phone or the previous BlackBerry phones because you will regret it like I do.

??, 15 Nov 2016Why will some of the Blackberry phones not be supporting Wh... moreIt was extended until June 2017. But the "why" is still the same. WhatsApp regularly updates its back-end infrastructure to keep pace with evolving technology, avoid security failures, and pursue their own commercial interests.

Every time the back-end infrastructure is updated, they have to either update all their apps to work with the new web APIs, or else keep the older APIs in place alongside the newer ones, so that older apps will continue working.

This presents a potentially significant maintenance burden:
            1) Keeping older back-ends in place means that every time they introduce new service enhancements, their overall infrastructure needs to be tested extra times, to ensure that those new changes gracefully scale back in a predictable way in all the older back-ends. It may also stifle innovation, because there may be push-back against introducing new concepts that cannot be adequately represented in apps that still rely on the older back-ends.

            2) Updating all the apps to work with the newer back-ends is likely to require dedicated development effort for every mobile operating system they intend to support. That is just part of doing business, but there have to be enough customers using a given OS to justify spending time and money on supporting that OS.

Blackberry 10 OS (and older) have had a consistently shrinking population of users for a long time now. And Blackberry itself is no longer using BB10 (or older) on any of its recent devices -- they are all running Android nowadays.

WhatsApp doesn't think there are enough customers running BB10 (or older) anymore to be worthwhile maintaining their app for that OS anymore. So the app will not be receiving any updates to work with newer versions of the back-end infrastructure.

Furthermore, looking across all the other mobile OSes whose apps also continue to rely on those older back-end services, there aren't enough customers running any of those older operating systems to justify the effort of continuing to keep those older back-ends running anymore. So the older back-ends will be taken offline, and all of those older versions of the app will also stop working at the same time.

I bought this phone last week and I am in love with everything except for the app store.
The keyboard is phenomenal and the interface is so intuitive.
This is my sidekick to my iPhone and itds perfect for that purpose. If anyone is interested in a more in depth view just leave a comment here.
Other than that I'd recommend this as long as you aren't into apps (Android apps don't run well on BB10)

Amazing phone I've had it as a replacement of a Z10 which motherboard completely burnt.
Great performance I've had it for two years and no regrets at all.
I did buy my Z10 again and yep I was sceptical about BB7 cos troubles my daughter encountered with her BB Curve but then she persuaded me in buying a Z10 and I've been for last 4 years.
I must say am a bit critical of the Android direction but then again will have to try it out to be more certain!

There are no more BlackBerry OS phones. I've been a loyal BlackBerry user for over 10 years. Since BlackBerry abandoned their OS, I've had to switch to iOS. Don't like it as much as BlackBerry but it works.

BlackBerry is refocusing its efforts on Android. If I wanted an Android phone, I'll buy a Pixel

"Camera can't be started" suddenly appeared when I'm about to take a selfie the other day. I researched about it and I was shocked to learn that there are a lot of blackberry users that are complaining about their phone's camera being faulty. The Blackberry Q5, Z10, Classic, Bold, Z3 and Leap seemed to be the most susceptible to suffer. I should have gotten myself the passport or the priv since I haven't read anything about them having camera issues.... well, not yet of course. tsk, too bad. My BB LeaP is just 14 months old and it's already useless. Well, I can still text, call, use the net but my most used app is Instagram so.. there you go. Will let a techie look at this but in the future, I won't be buying another blackberry until they sort this problem out.
