My scroll button will go up and down but not to the right. This happened once before (a few months ago) and it seemed to "unstick" but it's stuck again now and doesn't seem to want to go to the right. (At least it'll go up and down.) It's a real drag. Any help on how to fix this problem? I love the Pearl's size and really everything about it but this has to be fixed . . . and quick! Help! Email with any ideas. Thank you, KBD

Blackberry Connect will run on win 6 and most 5 handsets, also on many S60 handsets. The latest BB for WinMob actually emulates a BB device.

Syncing with Mac should be less hassle then BB to Vista but it depends on the OS version you have. MissingSync will fill in most Mac to mobile sync gaps.

Hotmail on the whole doesn't work with POP3 and generally you'll need a hotmail plus/pro account to use it with BB or Outlook etc. (some older MSN accounts do still have POP3)

              Roy

Windows mobile and Blackberry are two different push email services so I can't see what you would want them to be compatable for. Also you would not be able to use the Blackberry service on a mobile/PDA with Windows Mobile software.

If you want Blackberry to be compatable with MACs to sync documents (i.e. word, excel etc) then it won't do it as (as far as I'm aware) MACs use different software to Blackberry and other computer systems. However you should be able to use the Blackberry to push emails using whatever the equivelant MACs use to Outlook or an internet based email such as Hotmail.

                No worries Drax.

With regard to the below problems if you are outside the return period from the company you baught it from you should contact them and ask them to send the phone off for repair under warrenty. You should state you wish to have the software wiped and re-instaled (note: you should back up any photos, contacts, videos etc before sending the phone). They will re-install the latest software which should cure any freezing problems etc you are experiencing. (If you ask nicely they may even give you a loan unti while yours is being repaired).

                Again hope this helps.

Oh, and about the scrolls going out... well, its not the scroll. It's the software. I'd suggest for anyone experiencing such problems to have your phone exchanged, that is if its not too late. However, considering its newness, I'd doubt for any software issues to have been resolved. You'd probably be provided with another no different. Maybe you ought to just consider another phone. I know I am.

About the call issues with this phone, its a problem with both gsm alongside cdma users. And from my understanding, its not so much an issue with your sim but rather one with this particular model - pearl. So don't be suprised if you encounter the same issues going forward with your new sim. I'm actually contemplating to exchange this phone as a result of this. Apart from that and the ever so often freezing, said phone is actually very well by way of a communications/data device. Good luck

Thanks Chris for the info. I did a SIMswap with Voda and registered the new SIM yesterday; this thus far appears to have rectified the issue. Thanks also to Michelle Harrison for the email too giving the same suggestion. :o)

Either Vodafones signal is rubish in your area (although this would effect you being able to hear the other person as well) or you need to ask Vodafone to do a sim swap and issue you with a new sim card (they may charge you for this).

                          Hope this helps.

I've switched from the 8100 to the 8200 and although showing marginal improvements it still carries the same glitch with answering calls. I can hear the user at the other end but everyone complains that they only get silence for the first few seconds despite me going "hello?..hello?!..." etc. Vodafone have been their usual helpful selves; eg: bugger all, having had to fix the MMS myself after them telling me that Blackberry's can't send or receive MMS. Any ideas?

I am on my second Blackberry Pearl. The scroll button keeps gong out on them. I will not buy another Pearl. But, it looks to me as if you want a camera on your Blackberry, you have to purchase one with the scroll button in the middle instead of on the side. I have heard a lot of people complaining that their scroll button has failed also.

Sorry to say Sharron but if you are having these problems then I don't really think you should have this phone.

                                  Hi Nathan
If a phone freezes or hangs up while on a call it normally means there is a slight problem with the software. You can either just leave it and put up with the problem or send it back to the company that sold it to you to be repaired under warrenty.

If you send it back to be repaired under warrenty they will more than likely wipe and reinstall the software on the phone which will wipe any info (contacts, pictures, videos etc) you have saved on there, so make sure you back up all you info using the data cable or a similar method.

                                  Hope this helps

I have been using this phone for about 3-4 months already, it is a great phone with many features in it. So far, I don't have complain about it, but sometimes it is weird it just intermittenly hangs or freeze up and can't continue talking or making a call. Recently, I added a 1.0 GB memory chip for media used and just wonder if this affect the phone malfunction internally. Just wanted to find out about this problem or if there's any solution for it. I really wanted the phone to function normally without the interruption while i am using it daily. Overall this is a good phone with the features, design, and the technology this phone provide for the public.
