Actually, I believe this is targeted for the teens market.
There will be LOTS and LOTS of high school/college students business-man-looking-wannabe using this phone.
For this will come with T-Mobile, I guess I'll get one for me too. :)

Anonymous, 15 Sep 2008RIM need to hide away, this phone is the worst phone ive ev... morehey, guess what! This is the Bold's OS in a flip form. Only thing it lacks is the Bold's 3G, and if all the delays are any hint at all to you, you don't want a 3G blackberry. Every review I've read shows that this has the same screen resolution and quality, just smaller. So withhold judgment.

I work in the devices team for one of the major uk networks and i think this device will be really popular, especially with business users. I have one myself and i love it. its just like a regular blackberry pearl but a flip.....

I think this phone has appeal for women that want to have a status symbol of a "business"
this is what RIM were going for, the female market, i think its a good move but most males wont appreciate it obviously.
it should sell if RIM target their marketing to the female market.
otherwise not too bad.

Epic fail in the design. They shouldn't do this again.

Vodaclone - Thanks. No experiance with RIM batteries so let see how it will turn out in real life.
Blackberry - Ever downloaded e-mail attachments? On the move? Than you probably will know what 3G is for. Personally I have a 5 gigs data package in my monthly subscription.
And as weather RIM needs to hide or not? I never used, and for a while I will not use one for more than a trial. Still, I know, that their share in the "high-end" or "professional user" section (specially in the US) is way higher than average. Think about it, before you say that the company doesn't worth much. Just a relatively fresh article:

The phone looks nice and has a great design. It lacks the bells and whistles you would expect, this late in the phone game (Q4 2008). Please add 3G and a FM radio. That will take the phone to the next level.

v ger - - - - the blackberry batteries have always given as good if not better performance than Sony ericsson phones...they use less power because the operating system is less demanding... stand by time will be very good...i have no doubts

Hm. I have serious doubts about 900 mA running for 2 weeks. In stand by mode maybe, but in normal usage. No way.
The best battery I had so far was Ericsson (not SE) T68. 650 mA battery running for one full week with app 2,5 hours of call a day! I even dared going out for a 4 days trip without a charger. :-)
And that had a much smaller display with much less colours. So should you turn the external screen off, and not take a single phone call, than maybe. Othervise it is just "marketing".
I can see this unit as a basic office phone for someone, who does not travel at all (or someove, who wants to look important :-) )
Lack of 3G is definately a disadvantage if you are a heavy traveller. Also, on the Far East your are screwed with this one.
Also, if you have high data traffic than 3G also comes handy. At least if you don't wish to spend 8 minutes on a simple e-mail download.
The keyboard is of course better than "normal", but useless if you write most of your e-mails from your phone (like me), or browse the web from mobile and write comments on forums (like this one). You grow a beard while writing.
No issues with the screen though. Tell me, what do you use the screen for? The pictures are small anyway, so you don't even notice. Play games? This is not designed for that anyway. Watch or edit documents? Perfectly enough. My office computer (which I rarely use) is also turned down on colours.
However, on this screen you gonna only read documents, not edit them.
But I have to admit, it does resembly SE Z series a lot.
All in all. Probably a good entry business phone (or female phone - apologies from the feminists, but experiance talks) for the USA market, where RIM is strong anyway. As for Europe or for the Far-East, this is definately "weak".
