I like Samsung Galaxy Tab/Note. But BlackBerry PlayBook is also interesting with BlackBerry Services. Two ways to connect BlackBerry PlayBook. You can connect your BlackBerry mobile with BlackBerry PlayBook and get all services and as well with wifi connection also. If the price of BlackBerry PlayBook is much cheaper than go for it otherwise Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 P3110

bodunrin, 17 Oct 2012can i ping with my blackberry play if yes pls how, pls i ne... moreYes, you can use the BBM when you have your BB phone connected to the playbook thereby setting up the blackberry bridge. Aside using the BBM, with the latest update of 2.1.0.1032, you can send and receive text messages on your PlayBook.

And yes, I finally took delivery of my Playbook last week. I must confess it's lived up to its billing. I've been so addicted to it ever since. In fact, my wife is scared of my new better half.
The blackberry bridge has come in so handy when I find myself where I have no access to a wifi network. With my BlackBerry phone, I don't miss a thing. It should be pointed out that one doesn't necessarily need a BB phone to connect the PlayBook to the Internet. As long as you have a phone that has bluetooth connectivity and a data plan running, you're good to go.
In the meantime, my new love story continues.

I've had my PlayBook for over a week now and I initially went into buyers remorse. You need a Ph.d just to do the initial setup. But now I'm getting the hang of it I'm loving it. It's still to heavy.

It's a handy toy, but the only major flop is that you have to wifi it during initial setup before you can even play with the Playbook. So don't do a security swipe unless you absolutely have to.

Re having phone app/function on playbook: Yes! Why not?! I am surprised that neither Apple nor BB have make their tablets also phones. Consolidation is evolution. It offers "choice" and convenience.
I would still buy a bb phone AND a playbook as I have different requirements at different times of my day as executive.

No doubt the deviceis having a high end hardware.... What actually lacking is the appropriate apps. Though there are many apps but a few are there for playbook...
And the one which is there is very costly. As far as sideloading is concerned converting android app to blackberry app is not that easy... Overall 5/10

On my fifth attempt at installing PB update 2.1 I am slightly disillusioned that it is not as slick as Apple's updates. OTA updates failed (2 times) so I resorted the BB Desktop Manager but this method has failed a couple of times too and I have resorted to by baby sitting the installation watching it like a hawk and voila it's failed again!! Any interruption with something simple like the screen sleeping makes the installation fail saying it was been interrupted!!
I highly rate PB as a device but this update has been frought with difficulty and its beginning to try my patience not with starting Gigs of data download for nothing as it fails? Other updates have been successful so I'm disappointed this one has been so tetchy. Any ideas?

I just traded a Nexus 7 for a 64 GB Playbook. I was apprehensive at first, as the Nexus 7 is a Quad Core, Jellybean-running beast, but maxed out at 16GB. I wanted something I could put a ton of movies, shows and music on, and still have room left over for apps. Once the trade was made, I was NOT DISSAPOINTED! The playbook does everything that I need, and a large chunk of the apps I used on Android, I was able to get running through the Android "player" via side-load (which is NOT as difficult as most people make it out to be). For anyone looking for a useful tablet, versus the "next big thing", or "flashy, show off device", this is the device for you. Just do a Google, Bing, or whatever search engine you use, search, and you'll see that the potential of a Playbook, even after being on the market for well over a year, still seems to outweigh that of the Android and iPad, from a stability perspective.
