Newby, 20 Nov 2010Hi there, just got the Blackberry Torch 9800 on contract. F... moreHi Newby, don't worry too much about the battery. First it is new so if you explore the phone, obviously the battery will drain quicker. Also, the fist 3 charges will not hold tat well, after the 4th charge, you will see a marked difference in battery stamina. if your area always have weak signal, switch the mobile network options to 2G when you are not surfing or uploading/downloading large files. That will save you lots of battery juice for later use.
The BB Bold onwards was already very robust and reliable. Blackberrys have always been stable unlike wha you previously was a fan of, the Nk products really leave much to be desired. I was also a diehard fan of Nk products from 1998 till 2009 when I told myself enuf was enuf. The fons all frozed when to many apps were used. Bluetooth also causd probs in the model 72 so i have given up hope on their products. Onc a BB always a BB. Enjoy using your Torch, I love my Torch too! Wonderful gadget.

For those who plan to download the OS6.0 into their BB9700, think carefully. The OS6.0 is not meant for the 9700 and since ere may be possible conflict between hardware and software, download at your own risk.

If it was meant fo the BB9700, RIM would have announced a software upgrade for it. There has to besome reason behind this. Sometimes, the original version of the software may be faster and more stable than the upgraded patches. Trust me... I have upgraded so many phones and I have seen enough of problems. If it ain't broke, dont fix it.

Hi there, just got the Blackberry Torch 9800 on contract. First time BB users and very happy. This phone is user friendly. Battery life a bit suspect but the phone is fantastic. Always been a Nokia fan but have step away, will stick to Blackberry now...

Today I compared various Android phones: (among others) HTC Desire, Desire Z, Samsung Galaxy S, SE Experia X10 Mini Pro and Nokia C3, C6, N8, E71, E72, BlackBerry Torch, 9700, 8520, Motorola Droid in search for a decent software and/or hardware keyboard, comparable to the 7 year old BB I use daily.

Conclusion: no such keyboard is available (anymore). The only software keyboard that worked for me (sort of) was in the Desire Z (the hardware keyboard is just as bad as all the others). The best hardware keyboard I found on the Blackberry Curve 8520 because of the space between the keys. Second comes Experia X10 Mini Pro, problem only being the upper keys being too close to the screen body.

I also liked the keyboard on the Motorola Droid, but the security thumb reader on the right made it difficult to hold and type at the same time. The keyboard on the Google G1 works best for me. The Droid II will probably come closest to the G1 layout.

And what about Android, Blackberry or Nokia OS? Android and Apple are just the same to me when you consider user experience. The Blackberry is very fast if you only want to use your thumb for browsing (with phone in one hand). BB is much faster than the HTC Android thumb dials. The NOKIA interface looks (and feels) like you are back in the Middle Ages. The N8 software keyboard is very disappointing (and the HDMI output to flatscreen could be better too).

My advice if you want to go for the best of several worlds, and a hardware keyboard, wait for the Motorola Droid II (with the promise of an excellent keyboard and Android 2.3), or the Nokia E7 if you insist on the Symbian experience but want a decent hardware keyboard and good camera (8 MP is just as good as 12 MP if you don't have optical zoom).

                        Good luck with your choices!

I used a blackberry 9800 in past time. I feel good in the at first, but I found it has a lot of problems in later. So I don't want to use it again. So my friend introduced to buy iphone 4. I bought a iPhone4 factory unlock Mc605b/a from the store of ecwhole. Its price is $567. I feel very good now. And very fashionable. I really love it.You can go to buy it.I thike it can bring you a kind of different feeling!

Has anyone had issues with the Bluetooth of the Torch not working correctly? Not finding Bluetooth devices or when disconnecting the Bluetooth headset while in the middle of a call?
