i have been using this since launch and i have got many good advise along the way. for the first few weeks my battery life was really bad. then i got some advise saying that lower your back light percentage. it works very well after that. I am using it at 10%. it helps the battery life. overall, it is not a fun phone but it get things done according to what it is needed to. but if the signal area is poor, your battery will run out faster. and your phone will be bit hot too..
but i need some advise here. I know torch has a built in device memory of 4gb. and i place a 16gb card in it. how do i change the storage destination. ( not the APPs ) but for videos, songs and pics.
2nd. how do i turn off the camera shutter sound, it is still on even in silent mode. any idea?

I love my torch!! have had it for almost a week now and i just keep finding new things about it. question for anyone else, how long does your battery last? i know it varies depending on what you use it for but typically how long does your batter life last?

I've been using the Torch for more than a week now, all I gotta say is that it's AMAZING! Smooth touch screen, nice keyboard, display is clear, and it runs smooth. The best phone I bought so far and I'm glad I did. It's a complete device, not a toy like iPhone 4.

I have used the torch already and love the interface and os 6.0 of the handset, I must say i would only use the touch screen for the menu and still use the keypad for any typing on the handset.
I have just ordered my new handset now and i have the os6 on the 9700 so the new system is amazing and very fast on the bold (just as fast as the torch)
This is the best handset that blackberry have brought out they have done their homework on the touch screen and camera as well.
Well done blackberry!!

blackberrian, 12 Oct 2010slow??in terms of what bro?I've been using this phone for a month now, buy it at Rm 2400. reason i bought this phone due to my 9700 having chip issues and need new phone urgently
IMHO for that price nothing much that i can say except for it has bigger screen, no lag issues and it has better software and hardware and to pay for that amount to getthe phone....u better think twice
So better wait for the price to drop

I cannot read attachments on my Bold as the typeface is too small and zooming in cuts off too much of the document.
Although the Torch screen is bigger it looks like much of it is taken up with touchscreen. Has anyone tried reading attachments on it and is there any difference/

prakash, 13 Oct 2010This gadget is really nice one still the resolution is lowe... morei was at the Nokia N8 City Launch yesterday and got to play with the handset for about 25 minutes. no doubt the resolution for the photos is very good, but in general the icons and menu's look outdated, as the same have been carried forward since several years. BB 9800 resolution may be lower compared to the other handsets that boast of AMOLED and S-AMOLED and what not, but for a business user like me, the screen res. doesnt make a lot of difference as long as it is legible and clear and does the job.

Just wish to tell you that i was the first person in India to Get the BB 9800 when it was released on August 12th in the USA, though it has not been released in India as yet. i ahd the handset with me on August 16th and have been using it since then. i recieve an average of 40 emails a day, send about 100 text messages, about 50 BBM messages and talk for about 3 hours a day. the battery lasts atleast 36 hours before it comes down to 15% and about 40 hours before the handset shuts down.

First of all, to all you 9800 Torch users & non-users thinking to get one... The Blackberry 9800 Torch is by far the best mobile device solution!!! As to some of you who are trying to compare the 9800 with the Iphone4 or the new OS6 vs android2.2, you CAN NOT compare the two against each other! It is impossible to do as they are two VERY different solutions!!! Iphone4 is a great toy as to the 9800 Torch is a business or personal solution! This is what Blackberry is about, not the phone but the solution that they offer the user, may it be business or personal!!! So it comes down to this... if you are looking for a great new gadget, get the Iphone4 BUT if you are looking for a great solution, get the Blackberry 9800 Torch!!!

Its a dual function fone. So it has a security of the qwerty keypad & the touch screen - the best of both worlds.
