But to answer you're question, yes that is normal, especially if you have multiple things running. I have a friend with the 9850, which is the CDMA version of the 9860. She tells me hers does the same thing.

Bilal, 16 Dec 2011Hey guys need help which is a better phone the torch 9810 o... moreOutside of the form factors being different, they are pretty much the same, the exception being that the 9900 has NFC capabilities and the 9810 doesn't. I like sliders so I have the 9810. I also like the bigger touchscreen on the 9810 which nakes media and web browsing a better experience. I like the options for keypads on the 9810, but the keypad on the 9900 is the best there is. If you are more of a BB traditionalist, the 9900 form is that and more. I like sliders better. They are both great, just a matter of form factor preference.

Torch owner87, 15 Dec 2011my cursor move by itself when typing, it moves to the left.... moreIt's a software glitch. Mine does it occasionally also. When it's acting up, I position the curser, hold it there using the trackpad while typing with the other thumb. It doesn't do it on the virtual keypads at all. All phones have some kind of glitch so I'm not bothered much as it doesn't happen often.

dont ever invest in a bb torch 9810 if you can help it and if you happen to have one already do not under any circumstances ever upgrade anything via the bb device.
i did that to make life easier and lost my entire email account as well as the icon. for past 2 weeks i have not been able to reset my email account on my device even after changing passwords via internet.....
and on top of it all bb manufacturers/nokia or their respective agents in south africa have no clue how to correct this

thank bb and nokia its not worth the money spent on this device its a disaster to say the least let alone a joke for such an expensive cellphone

I have been using this phone for like 2 months now. This is the best blackberry phone I have ever used. I used to complained about the battery lasting only like 12 hours after each charge till I learnt to switch to 2G when I'm not downloading stuffs online. When on 2G, it takes you through the whole day. Amazing phone. Just handle with care and you will be smiling always with the performance. Has not disappointed yet. Even typing this now is fun because of the lovely qwerty keys. I recommend this phone.

The Torch's is about in the middle compared with other smartphones. Here's some things that may help. Turn off Bluetooth and Wifi when not in use, set your backlight Timeout to 10 seconds, set Backlight Brightness to 20 or 30, and lastly, make sure you actually shut down things you aren't using by using the "close" option from the main menu (BB Symbol) or they will be open without you knowing. I had that problem. Also, you might try downloading a Battery Boosting App from BB App World. it may or may not help. I've heard mixed reviews on them. I've got one myself but I've noticed a slight improvement. Hope this helps. Maybe someone else here might point out something I've missed. Every smartphone owner wants better battery life.

mr a, 13 Dec 2011does this phone have blackberry maps ?Yes, but even if it did't, you could download it from BB App World. The only issue is certain carriers try and block BB Maps to get you to use their paid map service.

You will definitely notice a difference in performance, especially on the web. But I wanted to let you know that a lot of your OS 6 Apps, games, themes, etc, won't work on OS 7. I found out the hard way. Keep that in mind if you are thinking of switching to the 9810.

Have the Torch 9800 a year now, and love it!!...with the latest OS6 upgrades performance is superb. The applications available for BB are to put it it simply quite superb. My Torch is setup like one cannot believe, in fact the only thing my BB can't do is make coffee :)
Yes I have compared BB to iPhone. Both have their pro's and cons. That said however, BB wins over iPhone hands down in my opinion. As a businessman, NO smartphone on the market can come close to BlackBerry as far as running costs are concerned. I have more than halved my monthly cellular costs since getting my BB, in fact to be precise I have chopped off almost two thirds of my costs and can literally run my business off my BB.
Absolutely, cannot wait to upgrade to the 9810!!!
