if you have recently bought BB or upgraded the phone then overheating problem will remain for 2 3 days. as per co. OS is settling down. I have been using my Z 10 for almost year but no heating or hang problem.
for Snap , it is available on the net latest is 2.0.2 this also works fine on Z10

Hi, i am new to the BB and highly appreciate if anyone can clarify the following doubts:
1) the phone gets hot a lot like an oven while charging and playing games for even 5mins,
2) the battery drains a lot even in idle state and not that matter for few calls and gamings,
3) also how to install the android app market " Snap " or " Amazon app store "

i have heard that the display of Z10 is somewhat dim & not very bright. Is it true ?? & does it have access to all android apps ?? & how does the android apps work, for it have the issues of slowing down due to these apps ??

About your further qu... moreHi Abhy. thanks once again for to the point logical answers. You have all the points to prove. I think i may drop the idea of going with s3. But Moto X will be 40+ in india and thats a range too high for me. Z10 also i started considering with the current price drop to 17+. Moto G is also a good phone as u said but its battery is non removable and its camera is only 5 megapixcel which is also not good in most of the reviews available online. My vote is going with z10 now.
My friend is also looking for a phone with a good camera and overall performance but within the maximum budget of Rs15k. Somehow Micromax,Karbon,Xolo etc do not create that faith in their brands as sony,samsung are. What option would you suggest for him. He wants the phone for gaming, clicking pics,surfing and nice processer.

About your further questions:
Q) Which one is practically faster z10 with dual core but 2GB RAM or S3 with Quad core but 1GB RAM?
- Firstly, it is not like that QuadCore will be faster than DualCore it depends on CPU integrated and other factors like RAM being used etc.
Cores just help in multithreading where in a task is divided.
Let's take an example of Moto G(QuadCore) and Moto X(DualCore). If you check the statistics you will find Moto X is quite faster than Moto G, being it's a dualcore processor and processing results at 1.7 MHz in comparison to 1.2 MHz of Moto G and have a capacity of 2GB Ram as compared to 1GB in Moto G. Further it depends upon the GPU. So, on considering all this depends the power and performance. Here we have compared similar OSs(Android).
Now, you are asking for BB and Android.
BB is very light and fast operating system(primarily uses C/C++) as compared to Android which is very heavy(primarily uses Java and beneath works on C/C++ layers) as it includes several layers of different software components, so it needs all those latest cores and gpus to perform superfast, wherein same performance can be achieved by BB with little less specs(same hold for windows and ios).
So, concluding BB10 OS is anyday faster and responses very good with its native applications and can be compared with response time of even S4.
But when running Android applications it runs to the point of running it smoothly(2GB Ram of it helps), I would say not exceptional speed like S3 or S4(for heavy duty applications).
Q) Z10 seems to have very poor battery life compared to S3.
- They both will deliver same battery performance if you use it. I put on charge to every night(around 12) and my use starts from morning(around 7) includes watching some tv channels, listening to online radio, whatsapp, 30 minutes skype calls and goes around 15% by night.
Culprit is there are some applications which are badly designed and they suck the battery too fast.
If you are into GPU intensive games, I would say it will prove to be battery hunger for Z10 and will come from 100 to 0 in 4 hours or around.
Q) S3 has gorilla glass but z10 does not?
Gorilla glass will be helpful only to prevent scratches but if you drop it screen is gone.
Whereas screen of Z10 is quite strong(check youtube video of a guy hammering Z10 screen and it doesn't breaks)
About scratches I put a matte screen guard from beginning so not sure if it is scratch resistant or not.
Q) Processor of S3 (GPU) more advanced than that of z10 for gaming
- True that will be helpful but it is not much of an improvement if you google it.
Q) Can side downloading of android games n apps really take care of the major drawback of BB having lesser apps (the great disadvantage of BB)
- There are lot of applications present in BB World and I had to fetch around 5-8 applications from GooglePlayStore for general usage and pleasure which includes Shazam, Billsup, Citibank, TalkingTom etc...
So, generally every app is present. But for games some games won't run straightaway in Z10, not sure exactly but I downloaded Temple Run, SubwaySurfer, FlappyBirds etc and they all run smoothly.
Now, adding things to it:
If you want to have pure Android fun from mobile I would recommend you to go with MotoX(going to be launched soon in Indian market) over Samsung S3 as I don't feel S3 is good.
If you love to be interacting with OS and depend on lot of work from it nothing beats Z10 as it is super advance and would say an intelligent OS where in it saves lot of your time and is very quick in performing tasks like if I have to call, messaging, searching for things within the mobile, camera, everything works and shows you in just milliseconds whereas in Android it takes time whether you are opening a camera/or image saving after shot, typing(this is mindblowing in Z10 where in you just flip up suggestions while typing) in Android is not to the point responsive and is little painful.
Search button will be on every screen in Z10 and it will search data and pull it out if it is within an application whereas in Android you have to flip over screens to go to a particular application or open up to look for message etc.
About its slow down I have filled BB Z10 with 250+ applications(using 14 GB) and it works like as it is just new(just need to make sure you leave 1 GB of internal memory) whereas in Android it will slowdown I can bet :)
So, I say borrow it from any of your friend and use it and then decide as in the end it depends on your usage. If your only purpose is gaming go for Android but not Samsung S3 as it is not a quality phone though they integrated some high end h/w in it.
You can wait for MotoX or you can go with Sony as they have quality and good build or you have an option open to go with MotoG.

how about the battery of the Z10 after 10.2.1 update as most of the users are complaining a lot about it.
