Canon has announced two new cameras in the mid-range segment, the EOS M6 Mark II, which is a mirrorless camera and the EOS 90D, which is a DSLR.

The EOS M6 Mark II has a 32.5 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor with Canon's M-mount. It also features Dual Pixel CMOS AF, which works for both stills and videos. The new model is capable of shooting at 14fps with AF and AE lock with new focus controls on the back of the camera.

The video capabilities have also been upgraded and now the EOS M6 Mark II can record 4K video using the full width of the sensor without any crop. It can also use Dual Pixel AF in 4K mode. A mic jack is also included and the display tilts up so you can shoot vlogs with ease. Videos can be recorded in 4K 30fps, 1080p 30/60/120fps but there's no 4K 24fps mode. There's also no headphone jack.

The camera features Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, as well as USB-C for connectivity. It also charges over USB-C. A single UHS-II SD card slot is available for storage. The EOS M6 Mark II features a hotshoe, which can be used for attaching the optional EVF-DC2 electronic viewfinder.

The EOS 90D has the same sensor, AF and video capabilities as the EOS M6 Mark II. It can, however, shoot at only 10fps in burst mode. It does feature an optical viewfinder, a fully articulating display, a secondary status display on top and a joystick for moving the AF points. The 90D is also weather-sealed and has a headphone jack for monitoring audio but still uses an outdated microUSB connector instead of USB-C.

How is the image quality? I left behind some expensive Canon lenses because Canon just isn't making any progress in dynamic range. Canon is great for providing professional support and their professional cameras do well with professional lighting, ...
