Canon looking to partner with a smartphone manufacturer

We've seen numerous collaborations between smartphone and camera manufacturers in the past, so this doesn't really come as a surprise. According to a fairly reliable tipster on Weibo, Digital Chat Station, the famous camera brand Canon is looking to partner up with a smartphone maker.

Since we already have the Oppo/OnePlus-Hasselblad, vivo-Zeiss and Xiaomi-Leica pairs, this leaves Apple, Samsung, Huawei, Asus, Google, Realme, Honor, Sony and Motorola as potential candidates for a Canon partnership. However, Apple, Samsung and Google aren't the type of companies that would pursue such collaboration, whereas Sony has its own camera department, so it's probably safe to exclude them from the suspect list.

Given that DCG is situated in China and the rumor probably comes from there, it could be a China-based company like Realme, Honor or Huawei. Sadly, we don't have anything more to work with and we can only speculate at this point.

Sony's camera division had some issues with Smartphone division which wasn't resolved until Xperia X(?) they purposely did not do give their best since they think smartphone threatened the camera business.

What's DCG??

They already do but most people are indoctrinated by Samsung and Apple marketing and think taking a photo just means pressing a button and out comes social media ready picture.
