I wonder how many are getting a loose charger latch seeing as its the most used port.

The Aluminum charger latch came loose and is now missing, maybe in my washer, the rubber flap still keeps the phone waterproof. instead of the nice latch, now there is a black hole which can not be opened without a flat screwdriver. Called customer service, got RMA to return the phone via DHL, now got an email the service parts are not available at this time... They keep me posted to when I can get it fixed... Be careful with the latch!

Anonymous, 04 Sep 2016Well no matter how well firmware is dual SIM phones will al... moreIf you think two sim cards consume too much battery, then use only one. But in my experience this phone needs to be charged only twice a week even with two sim cards so i don't see your point.

As for improvements and XDA - SDK is already released by CAT

You say your phone randomly freezes during calls or hanging up ? My CAT S60 has never freezed. Either you have defective phone or some software problem. (did you upgrade your software ?) There is also a chance that these freezes can be related to your carrier.

You also mentioned there is no option to select custom alarm ringtone. I don' t know why are you mentioning this here, because this is where hardware related things are being discussed. Remember: phone is just a hardware - what can and can not be done with it depends mostly on software (within the limits of hardware). If you can not change your alarm ringtone, you should damn the Android 6 Marshmallow software, but in this case - yourself. Because it is actually possible and very easy - open your app drawer, then clock and then you should be on the page where you can add alarms. Each added alarm has small white arrow (pointing down) Click this arrow and you can see more options. There is a text: "Default Ringtone (Cesium)" Click on it and change it to what you want. This method makes possible to put different ringtones to each alarm.

Camera could be faster indeed. But it is not the worst either. As for different camera apps - i can not say for sure that there is not single one that shoots faster. Needs further checking.

CATtester, 24 Aug 2016For anybody considering this phone I would stay clear and r... moreYou either have a defective unit, or your carrier is useless. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the reception capability of the S60. I live in a rural area and this thing gets more signal than anything else I've ever owned, in more places.

Voice quality is unbelievably crisp even with 1 bar.

Are you sure you are not using the international version in the USA or an area where you only have support for a couple of the LTE bands? Because it sounds a lot like you are only able to pick up one of the bands on offer by your carrier.

Having owned this since UK release, the port cover for the usb/charge doesnt sit flush anymore. Looks like the rubber inner plug is detaching from the outer cover on the hinged bit

Anonymous, 02 Sep 2016As I said - no advertising. This i my first CAT phone ever,... moreWell no matter how well firmware is dual SIM phones will always consume a lot more battery juice... Also I doubt that flir and cat will share any source codes with XDA so chances you will get any improvements in firmware is nearly zero... I also noticed that there are random freezes during calls or hanging up.... And there is no option to select custom alarm ringtone, done it with folders but still shame it's not there... Btw camera is slow on shooting too, takes about second or two to make shot tried different app still same. Loudspeaker is awesome on it.

Anonymous, 01 Sep 2016Oh come on these positive detailed comments just pure adver... moreAs I said - no advertising. This i my first CAT phone ever, so not a fanboy. And why should i lie about my experience with this phone ? (I swear i am not advertising, just observations)

About 5 year battery life - you are making too many assumptions: about battery life, about capacity of different batteries, about how many loading cycles different batteries have, about how often someone charges their phone's batteries, about everyone having an "average" smartphone, and most of all - you assume that after battery life is not what it used to be at the first year, then you can not use your phone anymore.
As i said - my last phone battery lasted over 5 years - it was weaker at the end, of course, but still lasted a day, sometimes a day and a half (according to usage) How ? - very easy: 5 years ago phones had weaker system specs, lower display resolution and batteries that were made to last longer. At first (after initial plying with the phone) my battery lasted 4 days and more. Later, after few years I installed better optimized version of operating system. (XDA Developers) It also helps to calibrate your battery time-to-time. Anything is possible with a little effort.
I guess it also depends on how you use your phone. (I do not have any social media accounts, i mostly use my phones to make calls, browse internet and receive e-mails)

About reception - i do not live in any town or near any town, so reference to "town cellars" is not accurate also. I was talking about cellar in countryside house. (sorry for not specifying)
I guess in some countries cellular coverage is better (big mountains are blocking the signal, for example)

And a little update about my CAT S60 - battery life is now even better. It is because after few loading cycles new battery reaches it's maximum capacity. (i hope i can squeeze more out of it after a while)

AnonD-576449, 25 Aug 2016I don't know what some people here are complaining about - ... moreOh come on these positive detailed comments just pure advertising.... 5 years on battery? Really?! Well I tell you what each battery has its lifetime or in other words x amount recharge cycles. Average every smartphone is recharged once a day some even twice etc.. so we have around 356 cycles a year and as far as I know most lion batts have 300-500 cycles lifetime..... So really within first year every phone drops about 20℅ of its battery capcity and that's without heat.... With today's usage phones are only manufactured to last a year or two as everyone upgrades anyway....
With reception there is issue and it's for sure... Maybe in town cellars won't be a problem...
Sound I can give 5 star best I have heard on this type device.
Don't get me wrong device is nice and solid but there is plenty to work on it yet...

The network provider does not want you to have the choice of two sims so will basically lie to you. The networks frown on phone manufacturers having dual sims.

My phone is now two weeks old and I'm happy. Battery life is one to two days with high usage. Sound quality good, reception very good. FLIR camera nice, you can see people in complete darkness 20 to 30m away.

I only have one complaint. The dual sim is not working. According to the re-seller here in SA they are waiting for a firmware upgrade, but CAT UK told me that my phone cannot be upgraded to a dual sim because the phone does not have a second antenna for the dual sim. So what they are telling me is that you get two S60's; one with a singel sim, and one with a dual sim. Even though my phone has a second sim slot it will not work. But the re-seller here in SA are convinced that a firmware update will solve the problem. Who do I believe? Does anyone have the same problem?

So I've been using my US version Cat S60 on AT&T for a week now and I'm extremely impressed. Build quality is very solid and all of the features meet or exceed my needs and expectations.

Cellular connections are fast and stable, works on all AT&T bands including LTE with no issues; although they did have to play around with the type of device that they entered it as because their system didn't recognize the phones actual IMEI yet. WiFi isn't the fastest given it's using older standards, but the connections are rock solid. Bluetooth range is better than any phone I've used previously. I've had other phones that the signal to my wireless headset would cut out if the phone was in my pants pocket, but no problems here.

The screen is nice and bright ever outdoors. Touchscreen responsiveness is exemplary. The 720p resolution makes a couple of the things I do each day a little more crowded on the screen than previous phones, but it sure pays off in battery life.

The CPU seems to handle all of the tasks I throw at it with aplomb. The device boots rapidly even when encrypted and application switching is smooth.

Battery life is amazing. Granted I spend all of my time in areas with extremely good signal strength, but I still find it impressive. A typical day for me is probably a couple dozen emails, half a dozen short phone calls, 50 or so texts, a dozen normal photos and a few FLIR photos; and I typically end the day with 75% of the battery left. The combination of mid-range CPU, 720p screen and enormous battery definitely pay off here.

Very happy with this device. Way better than the last "rugged" Samsung I used.
