So I've read a ton of negative reviews about this phone. I've had mine about a year an had some similar issues with battery an such. The software they use for whatever reason i can't disable the google app without having boot loop issues. I did get a program called island to run an now i can freeze an unfreeze any app i want. At work now with wifi on an Bluetooth on all day i can listen to music on my phone an still have 65 to70% battery after 8 hours. I think if their was an upgrade to nougat it would help but with the s61 out i don't see that happening for the s60. All in all i really enjoy the phone.

AnonD-753916, 22 Apr 2018My cat S60 is excellent as FLIR, phone, camera etc. But not... moreAs far as the apps being laggy, are they on internal memory or external? I found putting apps on the internal memory makes everything work well. Hope that helps.

After being submerged 6ft(on 2 mts switch) under water my s60 wouldn't work. It has been 1 week my phone wouldn't even charge. It did once but when the battery drained out it wouldn't charge at all of course it wouldn't turn on. By the way my phone didn't even stay under water 5 mins.
Anybody with same case? Please help. Such a waste of money.

Finally said farewell to my Cat S60, sold for £200 after 2 1/2years of owning.
The usb port cap was lost, the speaker grill was deteriorating, and it needed charging partway through the day.
On the plus side, it has survived numerous drops, the dinged case being a testament that it is a rugged phone.
Using a newer phone (Huawei mate 10 pro), it makes the Cat look really slow, though that relates to technological advances in chips. The Cat couldn't get a 3g signal where the Huawei easily gets 4g. Probably due to the Cats case.
It was fun having a different fone. The S61 is too expensive unless work is buying. So it's back to mainstream with a Spigen case.
The S60 did its job, but was flawed in build quality and signal strength.

Good phone. But itś biggest advantage is very strong antenna. Not like with IPhone or Samsung I can with CAT catch signal in deep forrest or far at sea. I do not have blind spots in house. Other than that - it is really rwealiable strong phone. I have it for a year already

Im on my 3rd phone, software failure, boot loops and the speaker mesh. I would not buy a pair of cat socks after this stress. I also have 3 friends with cats and we all regret it. Nearly 600 euros was so much for me to invest and now im stuck, only Sony or Samsung after this disaster of a design.

I have a CAT S60 phone and numerous times while talking, the phone just cuts off the other caller. I find putting the phone to my ear to hear the other caller, cuts the other caller off. Very annoying! To solve this issue I now have to leave a space between my ear and the phone. Obviously my ear is touching something on the screen that cancels the other caller. I have never experience this with any other phone...… other people that I know that have the same phone, have the same problem. Can any one suggest how to solve this problem?

The user:
Works in R&D, Degree in Engineering. This phone is my daily driver
===================================================
The good:
Thermal is fantastic, any temp issues people have can generally be solved by manually setting the range. By default, range autoscales to fit, so needless to say, if there's only a few degrees of difference between your top and bottom numbers, you might get a strange or boring image. For my use case in electronics, thermal has been flawless at catching all overheating events, even last night we managed to catch and prevent a few components from burning out due to this phone's FLIR. There is an occasional re-calibration lag in live image view, but as far as I'm aware, that's the nature of the technology and is the same for all thermal cameras, it rarely causes any issues.
Performance has been good, though admittedly, I don't run heavy resource hog apps so my view may be skewed. Use case for me is electrical and engineering work. Seeing wires or components heat up before they smoke gives enough time to prevent it from becoming an issue and has saved a ton of time/effort/$.
Standard camera works well, though I don't use the default App.
Sim card opening is very well designed, It's done well for me
Unlike many users, I like the default setting of "don't grant usb devices folder access unless I specifically tell you to". From a security point of view, this is ideal.
Outside of the things I'm about the specifically mention, the bulk of the outer casing is fairly rugged and well designed. However, the flaws are numerous and glaringly obvious.
Programmable button is fantastic. Don't know how I lived without it
===================================
The bad:
Like many others, after a year the battery went to the abyss. After two years, I now have a one hour battery life and a replacing it requires a bit more work than a standard phone as users don't normally have access to the area and replacement battery purchase options aren't as widespread or varied as they are for other phones.
Charging port cap is poor design. Terrible really, first thing to fail and it's a rather important part. Why didn't they just build in wireless charging to solve the issue? Or at the very least, design a durable port.
Speaker mesh did not hold up to even normal summer heat. Failed on the second year.
Compass/gyroscope is of poor design and phone rarely knows what way it's pointing.
The emergency button app is poorly designed and not well thought out. First, the physical button is absurdly hard to get to due to poor port design (nullifying the entire point of the app). Second, the app often does not work as intended as it often will not launch the associated app, and when it does often will not send the message without additional screen prompts. Third, the send alert on timer function does not work unless the app is active in its current state, it will fail if it goes to the background. The feature is absolutely pointless in its current form.
==================================
All in all, the issues this phone has should have been caught in the design phase, they're fairly obvious to anyone who has ever used the phone in a real world setting. Not catching these sorts of things reflects a lack of care for their customers as well as a rushed design cycle.
I like the idea of this phone, it has a lot of things I very much appreciate, but unless CAT seriously steps up their game, I will not be buying another one of their products nor recommending them to any friends or colleagues. However, should they improve and fix the issues, I would be willing to give them another chance as I feel this product line does have a great potential.
